Last week I learned that our group was going to put our Serenity Game on hold for a few weeks and start a homebrew fantasy featuring 4 lands, at least initially. One would be the elven lands which arguably exists, may not. Two would be human lands, split from a single country, and the last one would be Orcish territory. I put Shellendrak Manor on the back burner (not literally) and decided to spend the week making coins of the realm, worked my fingers t the bone... By this weeks session I had a full set of Human coins and the dwarven durals. I showed everyone the human coins but kept the "orcish" currency a secret. Before the session I took the DM to one side and gave him the bag and told him it would be a nice surprise to spring on us. His eyes lit up, great idea. The session went on and the suprise coins didn't materialise which is fair enough, but when he handed the back he asked, "You h aven't got anything a bit more... orcish, have you?" ![]() I think it would pass. Won't it? Anyway he said he'd like the elf coins so I guess he likes it. Oh, I'm not posting on my regular forum as I'd be spotted by the other players, it's unusual that my real life friends started out as online friends first. ![]() |

Personally I would talk with the DM and see what he wants for Orcish coins. Is he thinking that the orcs currently mint their own coins or are the coins all old and well worn? If he's looking for worn, you can probably give him what he wants with just a marker and knife to distress and discolor the coins. (Take notches out of the edges, round off the corners, stain parts of the coins with a light touch of off color markers/pencils or even weak Tea, bend some of them, etc. ) If you have some skills with an image program, you could also try to put variations in the marking/lines on the coin or even place Orc Clan (or other organization system) symbols on the coins. But I wouldn't do anything unless he describes what he thinks of as "Orcish" coins are. |
