My brother-in-law picked up Heroscape for next to nothing on clearance somewhere, and now he's swearing by it, as a sort of Beer and Pretzels Wargame. I was wondering if anyone here has picked it up, given it a try, or could give me any hints as I travel into the unfriendly wargaming confines of the Brother-In-Law's den to throwdown. |

I picked it up a while back when it was on sale at Target, but I'm really not impressed. I know a lot of people really like it, but I tried a couple of test games and was very bored. It's worth a try, and I hope you do enjoy it as many others have ![]() Arabin |

Thanks! At the very least it'll be a source of more prepainted minis. Especially Romans, Scotsmen, & Samurai. |

I LOVE this game. Great light wargame. Can easily play it in under an hour. If you liked HeroQuest, its basically the same system. Put a couple of expansions in it and you get some VERY cool tactical choices for building a themed army. |

Any suggestions as to what expansions or what are some fun armies to use? I did go ahead and pick up the Marvel Heroscape Expansion, for no other reason than that I love comics, and I want to smash the B.i.L. with the Hulk. BUT I'm a bit unsure of what other options to pick up today before we take off to the In-Laws. |

Alrighty. Man thanks for all the responses. The Brother-In-Law and I gave it a shot this weekend. It took awhile to get going seeing as his little guy (2year old son) was bound and determined to find his own place at the table and play. After we placated him, we had a 500pt battle. He used Captain America, Finn, the Valkyrie, & the other Viking Champion whose name escapes me. I went with Dr. Doom, some alien looking dog things, a squad of samurai, a squad of Men In Black looking guys, and a squad of Vikings. I got POWNED. It was really fun though. Captain America got on some high ground and just decimated my units as they tried to base him. As for the game, it's easy, fast, and it was fun. I'll be interested in seeing how I can take some of my cardstock stuff and implement it. So I'm going to give it a go with picking up more stuff from this game. Arabin, I did dig the Samuari so I'll have to check out your suggestions. Thanks again to all who responded... |

WOW, you mixed the Marvel edition with the original... It all depends on your taste in games of course. I'm glad you had a good time. I like the game the first 3-4 games, then turned off quickly. I'm hoping the 2nd master set has cool minis in it. CCotD' |

Yeah we both steered away from the Marro a bit, but man between the two of us we have a ton of them. I look forward to seeing how a team of Avengers does against an insane amount of opponents. We're playing this weekend, and I'm going with an Avengers Theme; Captain America Hulk Iron Man Spider-Man The B-i-L is going with the Hordes of Utgar. Hopefully when we're done we can squeeze in a couple of games of D&D Minis & at least one game of Last Night On Earth... |

What my plan is..once I build my desk....and then the UM models...I plan to run two different scenarios. 1. Have the Marro invade Earth, they look great and would fit an invading army bent on taking over the world. These are from the 2nd Masterset These are from the 1st Masterset + boosters ***NOTE*** Some of these come in squads of 3 or 4. 2. Crazy zombie scenario. I've got 5 packs of zombies from Heroscape so that makes for 30 zombies on the map(still need more though). The only problem with Heroscape zombies is that all the sculpts look the same, but there are techniques where you can boil them and move them into different positions, then add/subtract a limb/item or two. I dunno. I'm just a Heroscape addict, and now a model building WWG addict! P.S. Not trying to advertise for Heroscape or anything, but I do get into it when there is a discussion about something I love. |

I purchase the figures them put them on Mage Knight bases and make new dials for them. The knights I've turned into Mage Knight Dungeon Heroic Team. Need to get the Roman figures to do the same. Plus the dragons work great as they fit on the Calvary bases for Mage Knight. Now I can have reasonably sized dragons in my dungeons. |
