After reading through the current issue of Fictional Reality, I was interested in the pre-painted minis reviewed by Battlefield Evolution. The price is great 
Has anyone ever ordered from them (items are currently on sale)? How was the customer service? How is the quality of the minis? I'm wanting do a modern warfare mini game with the Mayhem set  , just wanted someone's opinion on the above.

Some of the photos of the helicopters and planes from Gen Con looked mighty impressive! Part of the difficulty Mongoose was running into was also production time... They want to have several releases each month, not only for Battlefield Evolution but Starship Troopers as well. Unfortunately the companies producing the plastic models, assembling and painting them, can't keep up the pace! Most likely they are going to either find a company that can meet the time and quality requirement or farm the work to several different companies.... either way, I'm itching to see the Starship Troopers models! I have a bunch of the unpainted Starship Troopers figures, but I'm too busy painting my Warmachine/Hordes and Confrontation figures to have time for it now... |

Those sweatshops in China just aren't working hard enough... halve their rations until performance increases! Reminds me of a t-shirt I almost bought at a Ren-Faire which said "The floggings will continue until morale improves." I hope they figure out a good way to produce lots of prepaints, and preferably doing so without working people to death abroad. Using seperate companies to do the prepaints would be a brave but scary move, since you could end up with a really mixed bag of results, and each contract is shrunk, giving you less clout to argue over quality. I'm hoping that one day, we'll see a new Judge Dredd game from them, along with prepaints... and finally giving us special characters (beyond just Dredd). Foundry has some excellent ones, but at their prices, I'd expect prepaint and a nice padded mahogany box for the miniature

Unfortunately Denny, it seems almost anything that must be manufactured has elements made or assembled abroad. The recent concerns from major toy manufacturers was an eye opener. CCotD, I agree that GOMC1 would be perfect for that... just like it would have been perfect for a box set of Judges, painted or not. While I still hold out hope that we might see plastic Judges with poseable limbs, I am pretty certain it will only come along when Mongoose releases a new Dredd project. They have hinted as another version of the RPG for 3 or more years, and have also hinted at some sort of Evolution version... but until they actually release something, I'll keep hoping in the background. After all, I loved some of the SST models they showed previews of years back, but they never released quite a few of them. Arabin |

I didn't know about the GW factory, but that certainly does make me feel better about their prices. Of course, I still only have the same amount of money to spend on gaming bits, so I'll keep buying the cheap clix. Hasslefree and Heresy both do everything themselves though... and although they aren't the cheapest, they are certainly a lot cheaper than GW. I guess a chunk of GW cash has to go to shareholders and upkeep of the stores, which in turn bring in new players and give existing players a place to play... which means they keep spending. You could argue that way, and I can't convince you otherwise. If you are serious in wanting to try the rules I'd recommend contacting Matthew Sprange directly, rather than through the Mongoose forum. His assistant will probably answer you, but they might be able to work something out *shrug* Otherwise, buy is for about $35 and sell the bits you don't want... Arabin |

Its the book I don't want - I really done with having hardcopies of gaming books that I cannot reprint on a whim. I have a number (a shite load) of gaming books that are pdf that have been printed in full laser colour and bound (thank you work!!!) and I really couldn't give a tinkers cuss what happens to them. I know one day soon I will have to move house again and all this is going in the bin. I will then reprint what I need at the new location. The other reason is I'm not fussed about the minis or the cardstock buildings... or the box itself. I would/would run the game with standees. Might try contacting Matthew Sprange but on the other hand if they don't want to flog the book then they miss out. I'm not being silly I just feel they really could do more to market their products. Believe me, I have nothing to gain from promoting Mongoose products, but while I agree with you that they definitely could do a LOT more to promote their products, other than the core lines, I disagree with you about who will lost out. While each company should value every sale, most do not. However, if you don't get it, you are missing out on an excellent game. Hopefully some of the other guys on this forum who now play can comment on how cool it is. I think there are about 8 of us, or more now
I won't comment on the wastage and lack of recycling as CCotD has that covered

Oh damn straight I'm being flippant with them. I have paid for a nice chunk which costs me about $7US to have printed and bound - but I will still chuck most of them once I move - I would keep only the item that I use the most (Savage Worlds and THW). The guys that do my stuff print items of quite boring handouts in their hundreds, item that will be binned withing hours of it being received. That love doing my stuff as it gives them something to break the day up plus they think I'm a tad strange (the best one so far has been Classroom Deathmatch) but at the same time love flicking through the finished results and going Ooo and Aarr. My whole point of buying pdf is for the fact that I don't have to have a library of books sitting two deep on shelves and piling up in stacks on the floor. I don't have to lug hardcover tomes in book boxes nor do I have to have a heart attack when one of the pages get messed upon (by myself, others, animals or just by the laws of Murfy). I don't print all but the one I do and don't like (as a game collector I must say there is a large amount of crap that is dressed very nicely) I can bin without a second thought. I still have the file - which may never be open again but I don't have it laying around unused or as a visual reminder of the cash I have wasted ( just think of all that GW stuff *shudder*). It's not like I'm collecting unpainted white metal or anything like that....
