I know this is a strange request of this crowd, but I'm going to be driving 7+ hours tomorrow with a bunch of gamers, and was trying to come up with a RPG we could play without a table or using minis. Just something where we can talk and roll dice and run through an adventure. Any thoughts/ideas? |

The FATE system can be done without miniatures, but I have not really looked that much into it beyond downloading the rules. I did just check into the combat section and I did not see any mention of miniatures so you should be good there. Here is the link: |

Ummm.... I grew up on Miniless RPG's and the ones that are sold so today are really only an option of play. I would say go Savage Worlds still - Cards and dice. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

In addition to the usual mention of SW, C&C or AD&D 1e comes to mind. ![]() |

I know what you mean, but haven't ever seen one that was good, other than in webcomics used by the characters. I did a quick google search and here are a couple of options: Not much help, but hopefully a good start. Arabin |

Try playing Slug Bug... ![]() I think almost any rpg could be played without minis, in my opinion. Pick one and go with for it. If it's a dungeon crawl, don't worry about mapping or just set up with 'you found this map', so the players can go throughout the dungeon with out messing with drawing it out. |

I've never used any kind of minis, from The Fantasy Trip via Traveller and D&D and Space Opera through to CoC, WoD and Ars Magica. It's not even close to being essential, even if it's fun. |
