While visiting my RPG-Shop I get a promo pack from the new Star Wars Pocketmodel TCG. It contains the X-Wing and two TIE Fighter, and two cards. The clerk doesnt say much about it but the ships looks great. I look for rules on the inernet and find out its mainly a Trading Card Game! WTF!!!! I thinked it worked similiar to the Pirates game or this other disbanded Sci-Fi Game, but the Ships are only tockens. You could say "the X-Wing Attacks the TieFighter" and roll a die, but no maneuvering, tailing or anything! Iis it only me or is it somehow wrong to have a game with cool miniatures of Starfighters and then have it only as gametokens! |

I actually really like the game. And there's absolutely no reason you couldn't use the models for a regular minis based game, like Full Thrust or something... |

Well I've not played any games that use ships. So I haven't any comparison for the Star Wars pocket game. However I looked it up when I saw it mention on the other thread and I'm interested. I rather like how simple the game seems. I'm getting really tired of reading the rules for new games lately. Just so I can try playing them to see if I even like them. So their video instructions, model quality, and free samples are enough for me to go pick this up today. But perhaps Wormhole will have features more in line with what your talking about. |

I've picked up the Large Imperial Destroyer pack at Walmart a week or so back. Comes with 7 ships, 30 cards and a pre-built Imperial Destroyer. The ships are frigging cool man. Probably the coolest constructible ships of this type. I like them even more than the other Star Wars spaceship miniatures game's ships. MY understanding of the game is it is more of a card/zone of influence type of game. Than a tactical space combat. Still seems pretty interesting, I'll definitely be picking up a few packs to give it a shot. ~Floyd |
