My times for posting are way off. Since I'm a big believer that all times should be EST (except when I lived in Arkansas, where I favored CMT). |

EST = GMT -5 hours CST = GMT -6 hours MST = GMT -7 hours PST = GMT - 8 hours Of course it varies when the clocks go back or forward as at least once they have been on different dates. I don't really understand why that is, but my folks are back in England (GMT) so I deal with the time difference quite a lot. Arabin |

Are you sure EST is minus 5 hours? I double checked and it says -4. http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-z ... tern-time/ Is that daylight savins time thing you mentioned effective now? |

Well I used to live in Chicago (CST) and my in-laws live in Atlanta (EST) which was always one hour ahead. I'm now in Seattle (PST) which is 2 hours behind Chicago. England is 8 hours ahead of me. Not sure what to tell you. I know there was something funky with Indiana... something about them not acknowledging the time changes... but I can't remember the specifics. Arabin |

I don't know how a state or part of a state could opt out, but the time zones are often adjusted to keep local areas on the same time. That way you don't change time zones crossing the street or something. |
