I actually got excited when I say this: And no, this is NOT Rin-Tin-Tin the dog actor! This is TinTin the Belgian Crime Solver! Yay! |

Heh, I haven't read TinTin in years. ![]() It used to appear regularly in a magazine I read as a child. Not entirely politically correct, at least by today's standards. I am very glad that it is Spielberg and Jackson working on this, not Lucas. The Auld Grump |

I grew up loving Tintin, it will be impressive to see it brought to the screen by Jackson and Spielberg. And like the Grump, I too am glad that Lucas has nothing to do with this ![]() |

Wow. Not sure what to say. Sort of overkill on the talent for directorship. But then I'm not a fan of TinTin. Will be interesting to see what stories they use. CCotD' |

Blistering Barnacles! I used to love these books and the cartoons. I'm not sure what I think about the idea of a trilogy of new films... but with that tag team, it'll be a success no matter what happens. One to watch. Shinobi, I love the little diorama you did. Nice work. Any idea where you can find a good Captain Haddock mini? Arabin |

Nice find. Combining those could work... though I have only dabbled in modding minis, I don't think I could cut the head off the top left guy (in color) without damaging the jacket. And as for building out the beard with sculpey... I haven't tried that stuff yet. One of these days... lol. It's a shame that Mark Copplestone didn't do a Captain Cod model, which would look strangly like Captain Haddock. Arabin |

You need a dremel to cut heads off properly for a swap. You snip off what you can initially and use the dremel to sand down whats left and leave what you need intact. Its a bit fiddly. |

Just saw this today... When will these people learn. I agree that the one particular book they are discussing sounds like it doesn't belong in the kids section today, but they seem to be taking it a bit too far. I have read quite a few Tintin books in the past, and I vaguely recall reading this one as a kid... but maybe I am different and could actually seperate this from reality. Of course, since I don't remember it being this bad... I have a sudden urge to go and buy it so that I have a more informed opinion. Arabin |

And that is the same reason why you do not see any of the really good cartoons from the 30's and 40's anymore. They cut out all the bits that people could be offended by. So all that is left of Bugs is about 30 second of a 10 minute cartoon! Grrr... |

People used to be allowed to have an opinion, and voice it. Unfortunately these days, in order to protect every possible type of person from ever feeling offended, they offend everyone by not allowing anyone to express themselves. Very bizarre world we live in today. I heard on the radio this morning that the "Christmas Tree" that Seattle will be putting up downtown will not actually have a star, cross, or any symbol that might be deemed a religious symbol, so as not to offend anyone. Makes me mad. Christmas used be a gift giving occasion, yes, but even without any thoughts of religion, it was a time a peace and goodwill to all men, and there was a friendly buzz... a comraderie amongst people you'd pass in the streets. The only other time you feel that connection is walking the streets on London after England has won a match in the World Cup. Now, it just feels like a busy, chaotic, censored, spending spree. Why is it that minority religions can have their symbols everywhere, and we'd be politically incorrect to complain or be offended, but having the most common religion's symbol around on that religion's major holiday is not permitted. One messed up world. Arabin |

I found this image at the Miniatures Page, which led to - 'Tintin is from Copplestone Figures. Captain Haddock is a Brigade Games figure with a head swap from another, they're both merchant seamen. I've given him a bren gun. The Thompson Twins are two Winston Churchill figures from Amazon Miniatures (with Thompsons). I added the walking sticks and removed the cigars. Calculus is a WestWind London Detective (Jack the Ripper set) with added umbrella.' So, there are some who have undertaken the adventures of Tintin The Auld Grump |
