This might be a SteamPunkers dream come to the big screen. Based on the book by the same name and known as Northern Lights in the UK. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Looks good to me! I love the non-gothic steampunk setting. |

That would so rock! I think we need a Zeppelin game - with big carriers and small fighters. Can we slot it in after Max. RoadRage? Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

I read the first book, but obviously didn't get it. It was okay. The movie looks interesting - and well casted. |

I read the whole trilogy a couple years ago and enjoyed it very much. It's not the kind of thing I'd read again, but very innovative, imaginative and interesting. Maybe I'll read it again to coincide with the movies, but now that I'm sliding down on the other side of 45 and there are too many other books I want to read, maybe not. |

[I'll risk answering this one - dons flame proof suit.] The books aren't anti-Christian at all. However, they do present fictional concepts of devils, angels, heaven and 'God' that differ from what I've heard some fundamentalist Christians espousing. (Interestingly, the books are probably more consistent with the biblical writings than the fundamentalist views with which they may conflict.) The books are a really good read, with a sound moral and ethical focus (i.e. they promote conventional Christian values). That said, they could still be a little challenging for people with a strong attachment to specific 'fundamentalist' dogmas. But hey, what do I know - I really enjoyed the movie Dogma ![]() |

I should have said that its Biblical and not so much Christian. I apologize for not being a little more clear on this. Good books though. And I am just curious as to how those elements will translate. Much like the new Lion,Witch and the Wardrobe movie... it will be mostly removed, damped down or altered. Unlike the [old]Animated film. Which had pretty much left it intact. The new one, Prince Caspian (I think they are filming or were already filming) has less religious overtones. ~Floyd |
