My monitor died about 6 months ago and so I upgraded... can't imagine not having my nice 22" widescreen gateway
My PC needs to be upgraded now though as it struggles with a lot of the latest games

Ok if you want to get technical Duo Core 3.2 or 3.4 ghz can't remember which. Not bad, I only paid £400 for the entire system. |

heh, I was going to say 'most likely' a dual system. Though in the realm of hardcore hardware geeks. duo/dual =/= double ghz. Arent we glad this isnt one of those forums, else the debate would rage for days. Grats on the new monitor and soon to be new system! |

I have seen glass mounted panels only once and it gave the screen a better look to it. I don't know how exactly but it seem to be sharper or better colour or something. I upgraded from a 17" CRT at the end of last year - I never knew how much desk space I really lost 'till I got it back. Now I can even cardstock in front of the screen. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Ebay.co.uk All of it for £400 but the monitor was from a different seller than the main computer. It was bought using my wife's ebay account as she has the UK paypal and I have the USA paypal. I'll ask her the name of the company. I think they are out of Liverpool. |

Glass cover? Wish I had known about them when I got my last computer. Though I can't actually complaine about my moniter (21 or 22" flat panel, can't remember which exactally). I got a K8 Triton Motherboard by Gigabyte Tech. It says it is PCI expres/Dual Channel DDR400 on the box, dose that mean I could add a second Processor? If so what is better AMD Athalon 64 X2, 64 FX, or 64 (or another)? I want to know so I know what to buy (if I can even add a second that is). Richard |

ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! 
Ok so I got the computer up and running. Due to the fact that I'm using Windows XP Pro 64 I have to search for special drivers to get anything working. I have gotten everything to work except for my new Xerox scanner and the sound. No matter what I try I can not get the sound to work. Driving me crazy!!

Well its to late for that! I already purchased the OS. The only problem I'm having is the sound. I had a problem with my Adobe Premium CS2 but found out how to fix it. Most of the drivers where already in the OS. Just not the this sound card. Realtek I think it is. Can't find any XP64 drivers for it. Bill Gates is going to that special hell. I dont even think his charitable acts will counter act it 
I'm not having that big of a problem. Most patches and drivers are out there now. I like the fact I can use almost unlimited virtual memory for my graphics. I could not stand being in the middle of a project and having XP Pro 32 tell me that was it, it could do no more. I just need to get over this little hill and all should be good. |

Thanks for the inspiration! The whole sound issue was partly because 2 different drivers where competing against each other. Uninstalled the unwanted one and tadda sound! That really was good Aleph! |

I have all three campaigns and play it simi-frequently. While I quit playing CoH/CoV for because of the monthly charge I still log on for a little guildwars hackfest from time to time. I play it about like I do Diablo II, nice little break away kill something with no real objetive game. |

What guidl are you in and what is your base name? I may catch you on sometime and constantly agervate with meaninless drivel about what is happening in Ascelon or TotA.  . But honestly I wish I had highspeed again so I could actually team up with someone and kill some... I mean play.

I quit COH/COV as I was getting a bit bored, and got sucked back to WOW for a while (hadn't cancelled my subscription). Only recently did I cancel all my online subscriptions because the games just are gripping me. I loved WOW for the longest time, even though it sucked huge amounts of time, but it was the "end game" that I hated. Once you hit 60, you couldn't PVP unless you had the ultimate equipment, and to get that, you had to have massive groups spend 4+ hours in a dungeon where at the very end, there is a tiny percentage chance that an item might drop, and everyone rolls for a chance to get it. The money didn't bother me, but I missed the adventure and exploration of the earlier levels. I know there is an expansion now, but I haven't given in yet. I do go back to Diablo II, Dungeon Siege, even Judge Dredd vs. Death on occassion for fun, but can't get interested in Guildwars. I'm thinking of trying out Lord of the Rings online when it's released. I got invited to the stress test last weekend, but struggled all week trying to download 3.5 gig from their crappy servers, and couldn't manage it. That doesn't bode well for the actual game. I would love a modern/sci-fi MMO, but they all fail on some level. COH/COV was great, but superheros aren't really my thing. The Matrix apparently sucked, as did Neocron and Anarchy Online. I haven't tried the latest version of Star Wars online, but I played it originally and was very bored. I might give that another try sometime. Arabin |
