Ever see some technological gizmo that you have no Earthly use for, yet somehow you want it anyway. I had a minor case today following a trip to the Miniatures page, where they mentioned for under $1,500. Not quite as bad as the lust I felt for a PoD press, but noticeable. The Auld Grump |

No, PoD stands for , the one I remember having techno-lust for had a tray for paper and a tray for cover stock. It could print and bind a book inside of ten minutes. Black and white only mind you, at least at the time. Perfect binding (similar to that used on softcover game books) I am sure that by now full color versions exist. At the time the machine ran for about $10,000. More than I can afford. ![]() Solid freeform fabricators are also nifty, someday I want to see the one that Reaper Miniatures uses to make the masters for their CAV line of miniatures. The use the machine to create a wax original, then cast to silver for the master. The Auld Grump |

I've always wanted: ~ a comb-binder for binding pdfs ~ a laminator for, well, laminating ~ a die-cutter to make professional counters The first isn't all that expensive unless you want a real heavy-duty machine that can punch lots of pages at once. Still, I can't quite justify getting one (well, okay, I certainly can, but I can't get it past my wife's objections)/ The second just sounds cool. The third is a carry-over from my many years spent happily playing Avalon Hill and S&T boardgames. I used to create new counters for those games, and had to rely on pasting cardstock onto cardboard. I can see a binder in my future, but the other two, probably not. That machine on TMP was interesting too. ![]() |

Had a laminator for years - their quite cheap now. Very good for our old style parking permits. One only needed a colour scanner (check), colour printer (check) and the laminator. Free parking anywhere in Sydney. Well for a few years (a bit of doctoring with Photoshop ever so often to up the date). Now their printed upon the plastic cards (photo id style) - have to get one of those next. Die-cutter - I understand what it is but are they a set piece? I mean are they like a hole-punch? Can someone find a link for one of these so I can understand where the added-value comes into a board game. I want a sprial binder - sits the book flat or back upon itself. Makes for easy reading.
