Yep, these things work all right. There was a great article in Scientific American a few years ago. Some guy in England got funding to research Trebuchets - of course to prove he'd got the physics right he just had to build some - full size too! There were some great shots of his trebuchet hurling a car right across an english field. Since he did this work, movies with seige scenes have featured trebuchets rather than catapults (even if the ones in King Arthur were an anachronism). |
