I was just looking for some WWII minis that I had come across while working at Toys R Us and while shopping at Target. Finally found them after a thourough search. They are called . They have 1:32 (51mm?) and 1:72 (25mm?) primarily. Turns out they also have their own game system posted on their site. Haven't looked at it in depth as of yet, but thought others might be interested. Regardless of their game, the minis are REALLY nice in person. Great option for those lazy/unskilled of us who would love to play som WWII games. |

The cool thing about 1:72, is you can buy plastic model kits and use those as your playing pieces. offers a lot in 1:72nd (not just airplanes). I have a ton of 1:72nd airfix WW2 figures from when I collected them back in the 80's. Looks like their shop is closed so you can view the product lines at the moment. That sux. CCotD' |

Airfix went into bankruptcy recently, as I saw in a plastic model magazine a few weeks ago. Their key supplier was Heller of France, which also recently had to make some tough decisions. Since plastic is made from oil, my thought is the cost of oil vs the cost they could expect people to pay for the kits. On scale, 1/72 is used with 20mm metal figures. 25mm is being replaced to a large degree with the new 28mm stuff, which is around 1/50th. I had kicked around the 1/32 scale stuff - they have some really nice ready to roll tanks in that series, and since I play primarily skirmish level for WW2, a handful of troops is all I would need. Many like a few platoons, so it would never do for them. Battleground WW2 game rules are great for small elements, but when folks use them for a company or more, they end up throwing them away or putting them on the shelf. Too much detail for larger units. Now the scale to play Battleground WW2 in was displayed at an HMGS-East con a few years ago, when they used 1/6th scale Dragon and 21st Century and even some GI Joes. That would give you the feel of the old Combat TV series. |

Well, being somewhat into both miniature figures (mostly of them made from metal) and plastic models, I've dealt with those kinds of mediums and must say that I like the plastic versions a whole lot more than the metal ones. Reasons, the plastic is lighter, easier to build (glue together, sand, etc), easier to paint, and much easier to kit bash. Not saying that I dislike metal, just that I like plastic quite a bit more for the main body parts. The bits, like gun barrels, antennas, etc. for those, I like metal. Oh and metal treads are preferred as well! Skunk Check out my fantasy campaign, Wizard Quest, a world using Wizards of the Coast’s 3.5 DnD system by visiting . A&A was my first thought to get some WWII going, but I spoke to a friend about them and he said they weren't very good. Scale is all over the place, he says. Have you tried them? |

Yeah and your friends estimate is not too off. They are about the same quality as Clik minis but honestly they aren't too expensive there isn't a very big market of prepainted WWII minis to begin with. SR. |
