Note: the above link goes to the Quicktime movie at Apple Science Fiction, Fantasy, Action and Adventure Rating: R In Theatres: September 22nd, 2006 Christian Volckman (dir.) Daniel Craig Catherine McCormack Romola Garai Ian Holm Jonathan Pryce Simply put this movie is breath takingly stunning! I just got back from seeing it and my mind is still reeling from the freaking coolness and the smoothness of the production and the screenplay themselves. I feel a tad sorry that you folks have got an <R> rating as we just placed a MA (+15) on it. My wife who loves crime thrillers but gets glazy at Sci-Fi/Fantasy also really enjoyed it. The casts movements in the movie was flawless - as they weren't trying to give every pixle a hair or skin wrinkle. To sum the movie up Blade Runner meets 1984 with a good dash of Sin City. When it comes be ready for it as I see it as an Arthouse release and not the mainstream (which only two houses have it showing here at the moment.) Makes me want to play Rezolution or Hostile TakeOver. If anyone on the WWG team could get a looksee of this city you would fall in love. For us to reproduce it it would be cheap - pure black and white. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

It looks like a very similar visual style to , which is in color. I'm looking forward to seeing both of these! ![]() |

Aleph, A Scanner Darkly is rotoscoped, painted art over live action animation (though they cheated and used computers to fill in lots of it. Still took millions of man hours per minute of shot or somesuch.) Renaissance is Motion Captured 3D animation. In both cases, though, you have art mimicking the behavior & mannerisms of 'real' actors... so the effect is similar, though the tech is different. I actually thought Renaissance was rotoscoped a la Scanner until I looked up information about it. I can't wait to see that film. I really enjoy Paris, and it'll be nice to see it futurified. ![]() |
