I will throw my Vote to Rezolution. Mainly because everyone is busy even during your opponents turn. Keeps everyone occupied. The system is very fun and I really like the fluff in the background story, this game has great potential and if they can get a campaign system released, I guess it would make it even better. At the moment though, I really like it and like playing it.

I've finished reading through the Gangs of Megacity 1 and it is a nice quick system. At the moment TheWarstore has all the stuff in stock, but there is debate about future support from Mongoose.

Necromunda is Free, yep and you are pretty much forced to use Proxy figures. But then you can use proxy figures for any game. If you have mini's that would fit the theme, go for it. Don't worry about the GW Secret Police, they've never showed up at my door, no matter how many times I call, or e-mail them that I no longer buy their mini's and sent pictures of me playing their game's rules with other companies mini's.

Try . It is free and does not require certain mini's be used. In fact there are rules to actually create Armies from the Mini's that you do have in stock. This if freakin awesome.

I vote for either Gangs of Mega-City One or Rezolution.

GOMC1 Pros:
- Faster Games
- Campaign Mode
- Judge Dredd world
- New Scenarios and Rules often in free in house magazine (Signs and Portents)
- Relatively cheap at about $35 for everything to get started, including enough plastic minis for two gangs.

GOMC1 Cons:
- Mongoose isn't putting much effort into selling it
- Judge Dredd not well known in US beyond Stallone film
- Expansion book currently out of print.
- No more releases currently scheduled.

Rezolution Pros:
- Themed factions with great backstory
- Unique abilities of characters
- Nice character cards instead of entire gang log sheet
- Aberrant dedicated to game with regular monthly releases.

Rezolution Cons:
- One off games only, no campaign
- Will need two starter sets to get started (or the upcoming Shadow War set) for about $50+.
- Cannot use proxies in official games/tournaments.
- Games can take a while as certain characters can sometimes shrug off a killing blow. It's cool, but the game takes longer.

I'm sure there are more things I could say, but those are quick pros and cons off the top of my head. Both are great games, so it really depends what you want out of it.

I am not a GW advocate. But I do like Necromunda quite a bit. And all the gangs are readily available on GW-Store Website(under Specialist Games). So I am not getting what shortages you guys are mentioning. The only models I see not available are some of the older BountyHunters (Mad Donna for example). But they have the newer Van Saar gangers avaialbe(with the optional heads to replace those silly psuedo German/Russian heads EVERY Van Saar had!). Though you can't get these through TheWarStore and get the discount.

Aside from that I bet Rezolution would be fun with Platform Command. As well as Urban War & Combat zone. (I plan on trying them all)

When I started getting into GOMC1, I looked at Necromunda, and the prices on the figures, if you can find them, are insane IMO.

I have lots of the Urban War militia figures which I use in GOMC1, but haven't tried that system yet.

It angers me that Mongoose did such a bad job of advertising GOMC1 as the game flows really well, and those that play it, love it. Unfortunately, GW is such a powerhouse that their products gets known very quickly, and GOMC1 seems to have been relegated in some peoples minds to a clone of Necromunda. It's nothing like it as far as I can tell. The whole punks, juves, arbites (judges) thing is frustrating and GW should probably have been sued for the way they didn't change much after they lost the Judge Dredd license.

But I digress. Hopefully CCotD will get to try GOMC1 soon and will be hooked enough to rave about it

That's understandable. A large part of the draw with GOMC1 for me is the universe, since I am addicted to reading Judge Dredd comics. If you don't like the style, it would hurt your interest in the game.

How are you thinking of tweaking things to keep the game mechanics but not the world? I would love to get as much mileage from the game as I can, and it is very fast moving.

Necromunda is based off the exact same world though, but adds in variation with the forced styles of gangs/factions. I don't know if they have different abilities or not, but you have the guys with mohicans, the bald black guys in trench coats, etc. At least with GOMC1 you have free reign to theme the gang or not.

I totally forgot about Urban War. I read through the first Rules "magazine" and was not that impressed. But I have not tried it. First time I read the "quickstart" rules for Warmachine I was not impressed, but once I played...... ohhh, put the lotion in the bucket or it gets the hose again....

My boxed set of Urban War came with a plastic platform set and I was not impressed with it. That's why I'm so stoked about the Platform Command release. I am hoping that the Platform Command: Operation Nightwatch, means that there will be other releases to make a Platform Command Series. That would be cool. Like Platform Command: Operation Helipad, etc.

I met the designer at Gencon 1990 and he was very cool. Higly entergentic and gave quick demo's of the system. Great stuff. More of a RPG than a wargame though.
