My daughter is 6 1/2, and has shown a real interest in our Friday night RPG games. I don't think she's old enough for that yet, but ... We have started playing D&D minis every Sunday morning. She really likes that. We've started simple (very simple rules, mostly just AC, HP, Attacks and very basic speed), but we add a few rules every week, and she's loving it. |

Hey, thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. Actually, now that you mention it though, it IS that complicated. You see, it was kind of a stretch to pull the group together for that SB session, and some of the people werent even sure if they wanted to be there in the first place... when it went as badly as it did, I doubt I will EVER get any of them back for D&D, or any other RPG for that matter. Also, my inability to control the situation really damaged my confidence as a DM, and made me pissed at my friend, to the point of straight up calling him on it in front of everyone, or demanding that if he continues to be such a complete jackass, he can leave my house. I really don't want to be pushed to that point, so it was almost a personal vow never to return to D&D with that group. Another annoyance was that the rest of the group (including the LG characters) just sat on their ass watching it happen. They didnt do anything to stop his behavior, which is another reason why I dont think this group will ever work. Sacretis |

Ah yes, party disention. I always love when that happens. Makes my job so much easier at killing them off. Sometimes I will feel bad if the party works really well together and they start dying, so sometimes I fudge and lie about a die roll that would have killed them.... rewarding them for the dedication to the group, etc. But out comes the evil ![]() DM: "Please roll a SPOT DC for me" Player: "Whaoh, a 20, AUTOMATIC sucess!!!! What do I see" DM: "Nothing" Player: "Then why Roll?" DM: "No time to explain, 400 pissed off Kobolds are attacking with their friends, 20 Ogres Magi!!" Player: "WHAT!!! I rolled a 20!!!, THAT'S AUTOMATIC SUCCESS!!!!" DM: "but they are coming from the south, you were looking north, so you didn't spot them" Player: "#$#$#@#@$#%^%^#%$#$@^#%@@^%%^^$&#^@" DM: "Wow, a 20 with a vorporal blade.... guess your character kisses his sweet ass goodbye as the head rolls past it". Now wasn't that easy? Don't worry Sacretis, time will bring experience. Practice brings improvement. If those folks do not wanna play, you can recruit more. I started playing at 12, DMing at 14. Took a while of trial and error to get it down right, but if done properly, works great too. After lots of deaths they either stop being a jerk, or don't play. Remember that it is prefereable to have a player who wants to play instead of a player who plays, but doesn't really want to. Hope this helps. CCotD' (The ![]() |
