I have not been able to find a review of this Game setting book/pdf for Savage World anywhere. So A question to all your Savage Gamers out there: Do any of you have it? If so, do you like it? Is the campaign/scenario generator good? Is the sanity system cool? I've been kicking around trying to decide if I want to pick it up. I have Weird Wars2:Blood on the Reign(d20). And while I love the idea of "Weird War" and it being during the final year of WW2. I feel that wrapping that theme and rules around the Fantasy D20 v3.0 engine is kind of its weak point. And the psychic stuff just feels like its Fantasy counterpart. In short, I was expecting alot more.(Don't get me wrong though I do like it and all of its supplements. Especially Hell in the Hedgerows. Cool name, even cooler cover art). I'd like to have a Savaged version of the Weird. And it looks like Tour of Darkness will be as close as I can get. Unless someone does a total conversion of WW2:BotR. -Floyd |

Tour Of Darkness is more than worth the price of admission if you like the era. It's just as good as Blood on the Rhine setting-wise and even better in that it's not d20 which can't handle guns very well at all IMO. There is no OSI in ToD so the "psychic stuff" you didn't like in BotR is not present. There is mention of OSI, but that's about it. The scenario generator is a lot of fun and can easily supply a full evening's worth of entertainment on it's own if the players are up for random patrols. All in all its on par with all the Savage setting books: top-notch. ![]() |

I have ToD as well, and like it. I probably won't use it for a long running campaign, but I plan on using it for one shot adventures. The scenario generator is pretty cool, and the extra SW rules and Edges and stuff (especially the stuff revolving around the unit) are pretty slick. |

I ran a ToD game before moving down to California, and it was a blast! The players were a bunch of green army grunts fresh off the boat, and played it to the hilt! We played a bunch of regular 'Nam missions with only hints of weird stuff, and they loved it! Unfortunately, I moved before we could get into more of the Savage Tales. C'est la vie! If you like the old Blood on the Rhine stuff, you should pick this up; it's much better 'cuz it's Savaged! ![]() |
