I just encountered over at EN World... $120, but it can be payed in monthly installments... I am boggled...

It looks like they are trying to push it as an extremely high quality product (which it probably is), and, to make sure it'll sell at the monster price of $120, the're adding as many bonuses to preorder it as possible...

About the monthly installments; for people running on a low wage, a hit of $10 a month is nowhere near as big as paying $120 all at once.

It seems rather expensive. I can't imagine it would sell very well.

Strange as it may sound - I do not think that $120 is an unreasonable price, given the description. But while that would buy 4 WotC books - totalling the same page count - getting myself to buy it all at once (or even in installments) would be difficult.

And I do not buy 4 non-core WotC books a year either. (Three so far this year.) I would have to run an entire campaign in that setting to justify $120. And I have enough campaigns in various stages already.

If my memory serves me correctly (I doubt it ), the worlds largest dungeon sells for around $100... This looks like you get a lot more, of a lot higher quality (full color art, lvl 1-20, cityscape, and most importantly, Monte Cook quality) for around the same price. Whats not to like?

Looks very, very cool. I'm certainly going to give this one some serious thought, but I'll probably wait until it's out to buy it.

Man, reading through the info on Ptolus, I was thinking it may well be THE White Wolf project... but, WorldWorks isn't listed as one of the partners. Instead, it lists Fiery Dragon (they do spell templates and stuff in the little metal boxes). Would've been waaaay cool to have WWG stuff on that CD that comes with the book.

I do like the fact that you can pay in installments, they know how hard it would be to get people to shell out $120 all at once...

Might have helped my attention a bit if it had listed DnD3.5 and D20 higher in the ad. Not that I am a big Fantasy fiend, preferring Future/Sci-Fi. I would go that for such a complete product in another personally more interesting genre. I do $100++ a month in gaming purchases easily, so the installments is kinda cool. A WWG tie in would have helped immensely and made it a MUST have . Another boost would have been a miniature tie in for NPC's and possibly PC's, for completeness. I guess I am just grousing over things I would like to see in a Complete game setting, heh.

I just got back into RPG's and without thinking much I went a purchased D20 Modern, D20 Future, D20 Weapons Locker, ad D20 Menace all for the D20 Modern setting thats about $120... THEN I found out about Spycraft 2.0 for $40... I think I wasted my $120 on the Modern stuff, so $120 for a complete big book campain doesn't seem out of line...

I don't think the $120 is too much for what you get. It looks like a very nicely done product with plenty of stuff for the $. I like plenty of stuff, so it appears to be a good value.

My only problem with things like this is, I prefer to run my own games, using custom designed worlds. My own custom designed worlds that is, so most I would do with something like that is use it for inspiration. But, I think it's worth it even for the inspirational value.

I'm going to have to watch for this when it comes out and do more research on it while I wait! Probably won't pre-order it though. I hardly ever do that for computer games, which I play a whole lot more often than I RPG anymore.

Oh and the installment plan, I think that's a fantastic idea!

While I rarely buy any book I havent physically looked at or read a comprehensive review of, this one is tempting.

I would like to see a proper, multi-page preview to more accurately gauge the quality and usefulness to me before I shell out $120 on a product that may actually yet turn out to be pure unadulterated dross. I bought D20 future without seeing it and sheesh! what a total waste of cash - an utterly pointless book that hasd nowhere near enbough detail in any section. It made me [i]very[/] wary of WOTC books for about 12 months, but I have to say Eberron has more than made up for it. I've also found that WW books can be very similar.


Does anyone have any idea if the bonus stuff is only available if you preorder or will it always be included?

Yeah, I am looking over the free Player's Guide right now. Looks interesting, though a bit closer to 'mainstream D&D'* than I am generally interested in. But they did put an awful lot of work into this.
