| Post subject: | How To Make An Ice Patch? |
I am building a snow board using two sheets of white foamcore, to make a nice 30x40 Frostgrave play area.. I am going to be cutting some holes in it and gluing street tiles underneath, to look like breaks in the snow with Real Three-Dee Effect. I thought it would also be nice to have a few ice patches peeking out under the snow (like from ponds or canals or whatever,) but I have no idea what t would take to make a decent looking ice patch with existing WWG textures in GIMP. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance! |

Perhaps a window pane from one of the older sets? |

How about printing some of the Atlantis sea tiles onto transparancies? Maybe mess with the color (or print greyscale) to get a muted tone. |

I think adding a Transparency with white and off-white snow speckles on it over the road or canal tile would give you something very close to what you're looking for, particularly if you have a third snow layer to hide the transition between the normal tile and the ice transparency (assuming you're not covering the whole tile with snow and ice, of course). Add some speckles to give the piece more interest, and you should be good to go. |
