I really should go play through New Vegas. I only made it barely into that game before getting side tracked and busy with life. Fallout games are great! Hopefully it doesn't force me to pay to upgrade my PC... |

Great looking trailer! I've liked all of the newer Fallout trailers! |

I have a strange urge to do an Old Howard mod for the game.... After all, if Skully Square can make a comeback, why not the Howard? ![]() The Auld Grump |

Ah, to nit, or not to nit. I guess since I've been friends with people working on this game for so long the 'teaser' doesn't have me as hyped for the game as I otherwise would be. Also, damn, it's been HOW long since Fallout 3? But I digress.. Nitting a little I guess my problem with the teaser is that the graphics are oddly too good, even pristine, in places where they really shouldn't. The 'before and after' shots seem a little odd in this respect in that rather than looking like a house that survived a nuclear war and three centuries of abandonment, it instead looks like a six-month-old foreclosure. The Dweller's 'makeshift' little headquarters looks amazingly pristine, with pieces of that collection looking newly minted. So, oddly, for me, it doesn't FEEL like Fallout's universe somehow. Everything's in it, but it's so shiny and sparkly - even the ruins - that the 'oomph' found in the previous trailers is a bit lost. Compare to Fallout 3 or New Vegas's trailer and you'll see what I mean. So, yeah, it's Fallout, I'm getting it, even if I didn't feel obligated to do so... and we do have the scene of Boston getting nuked.. but the newer graphics engine seems work AGAINST the Fallout setting a little more than for it. Seems like an odd complaint, I know, and it's not a huge one... but is making the Post-Apoc Connecticut Coast look PRETTY really suitable? Bleah, I feel bad, don't want to be negative, just something to get off my chest. |

But it is worth mentioning that The Institute is also in the same region - and has not only retained technology from before the war, but has been progressing. (In a Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? sort of way....) I think that the reason things look cleaner is that they have been maintained. There is power in the city - power lines crossing the country side, generators humming... and androids built to exist in slavery. The Auld Grump, welcome to The Commonwealth, Birthplace of Liberty.... |

I thought the Institute was in Canada? Or was that something else? I know it was mentioned in Fallout 3. Speaking of which does anyone have a sure fire way of making Fallout 3 work on Windows 7? I would give my pinkie toe for a Fallout Tabletop Skirmish game. |
