Oddly enough my HF mini was waiting for me when I got home from the D&D game i made him for. So I got my D&D character in the mail last night!
The package came directly from Shapeways not Heroforge.
I have purchased A LOT of stuff from shapeways over the past two years, much for X-wing and for X-wing scaled ships for the RPG, for when you need to do space combat (it is a star wars RPG so you know it will happen) and some Star Trek Attack wing ships. With that in mind I have done both the polished (P) and the strong flexible (SF) for X-Wing. For X-wing the SF works very well and i generally prefer it to P, while P may give slightly better results in detail, a lot of the detail does come from the model used as a base. So you don't loose much of anything detail wise if the model is well detailed in the first place as I have done a few in both SF and P.
Also SF is just that STRONG, I have dropped a number of the X-wing ships, P break, especially on spindly bits like the weapon mounts on a Z95 (think X-wings attack foils if you don't know what a z95 is) the SF have not broken. And while yes you can glue the bits back on with P, my trouble has been finding them to glue them back on in the first place. Also for me on some of the P i had issues with some paints always seeming tacky, I have never had that with the SF, so i have switched to SF only.
So on to the Mini, it is very light in SF, Polished would have more mass.
It looks good, will takes some pictures and start to paint it over the weekend.
It looks to be a very good representation of what I did in Hero Forge, I went in and ended up doing another posse of him with a ranged weapon and am thinking about printing that as well, I know I want to get him on a horse, but they don't have those yet.
So far happy with it and what I expected having about 40 other shapeways products.
