Seems Kickstarter for Kings of War, and already the .... Kings of War has become my go to game for fantasy wargaming - the rules are simple, consistent, balanced, and . (And, yes, the rules from this Kickstarter will also be free....) They have sold out of the hardcover, and, since they want to translate the game to other languages, felt that it would be best to update the rules before translating them. Only two pledge levels (three if you count the $1 placeholder pledge) - the first is $50, and gets you the hardcover rules and a paperbound mini-rulebook. The other pledge level is $150, and gets you either two small armies with your choice of races (design your own two player starter box, kind of) or a single large army (I am looking at dwarfs...). There are also several $100 addons - decent sized armies - dwarfs, elves, abyssal dwarfs, undead, ogres, orcs, and goblins. (Also the Basilean Goody-Two-Shoes army - but the plastic infantry for those are bad enough that I have to warn people away.) All are pretty decent value for money. Currently a bit more than two weeks to run. ![]() The Auld Grump |

Yeah I'm in. Not sure if I'm going to go for the 2 smaller armies or one Mega army. I missed the first Kickstarter so I wanted to get in on this one in hopes that I can get my son interested in playing. I may kick in for another smaller army or if I get brave go for another Mega army. Any suggestions? Bryan |

Less than two days to go - here's the latest versions of the Mega Starter Armies: And there are some interesting rules changes coming - counter-charges (you can always charge a unit that charged you last turn, even if facing the wrong way - not so much a counter-charge as just continuing combat), a bonus to missile combat at close range rather than a penalty at normal range, Elite now rerolls all 1s when rolling to hit (the old version was just reroll one missed to hit roll), Vicious now rerolls all 1s when rolling to wound, and cavalry now has Thundering Charge in place of Crushing Strength (same thing, but Thundering Charge only counts in the first turn of a combat). Also, you can put in a $1 pledge, then bump it up later, when the Pledge Manager is out - even after the Kickstarter is over, but before the Pledge Manager ends. I like the idea of the two player starters, but it looks to me like the Mega Armies are better deals. The Auld Grump |
