My oldest son and I just grabbed a few new ships, including the Tantive IV, so we decided to play an epic-level (300-point) battle. I am going to use this thread for pics.

My (Empire) strategy was to maximize upgrades knowing I had flexibility since I did not have the capital ship. My son's strategy (Rebellion) was to have as many support ships as possible.

Pics or it didn't happen!

Trying to get some up tonight. Left the laptop at the office and navigating these forums on my phone is...fun.

The setup, and my worthy opponent. Card management on the left, play area on the right (including the table leaf).


Closer shot of setup. Our dining room table is nice because it has grooves in it which we use to define boundaries.

Round one:

Movements and first shots completed. Phantom is cloaked. The fore section of the Tantive IV took massive damage as most of the projectile-equipped ships unloaded on it. Still, it was not crippled. The Millenium Falcon takes heavy damage and is slowed with an ion missile.

Round two:

Chaos ensues. The Tantive IV banks right, taking out the TIE bomber and A-wing in the process.

Post-combat. The Millenium Falcon is destroyed. Darth Vader's TIE Advanced is blown to bits.

Round three:

Movement complete.

B-wing down and out!

Round four:

Defying belief, the Tantive IV has taken out another of its own ships with a turn. The Y-wing is no more. The X-wing has also pushed the envelope too close and left the playing area.


The rebels hit back and take out a TIE interceptor and the other TIE Advanced.

Round five:

The Tantive IV is no more, along with the Hawk.

Round six:

Movement. The Empire regroups to finish up the Rebellion.


Combat. The E-wing is lost but so is one TIE fighter.

Round seven:

Empire victory with a good showing by the Rebellion. If they did not lose three ships needlessly, this would have been much closer.

After looking back, I think round six's pics have two rounds in them, leading me to believe we might actually have had eight rounds. We took several breaks during the game (as well as taking well over an hour to set up). It was truly an all-day affair. My son like to pick ships and options from scratch every time, but I notice he is starting to pick the same things in certain areas and I am trying to convince him to settle on a defined squad (for now) so we can set up quicker.

I also need to get a good case (looking at Battlefoam), which will aid in setup and teardown.

Finally, and it will most likely be lastly, it would be excellent to put together a nice starfield board to play on.
