I have 32 bit software and was wondering if it can run on the Windows7 operating system. I am also wondering what computer would be best for heavy graphics designing. The only one I have seen is for gaming. I suppose that might work. Since the desktop computer crashed, and only my very old laptop is still working running it is a good excuse to get what I realy need this time around. I need memory ... speed! And... to aviod Windows8. |

I have been intentionally avoiding looking at new stuff recently, but what are you looking to spend? Is a laptop or desktop preferred? Would you be willing to put it together yourself? etc. |

I've found Windows 7 to be surprisingly good at running older programmes. A good place to start is Microsoft's page (just enter the program name in the search box). |

So you went to a local store that built a system for you, or was it a system in the box that they tweaked for you? What was the base system and the operating system? I need to work with graphics. I'll see how it goes with the eyes strain. There are so many things that I want done. If I can't do it I will commision the work. I can still sketch but my speach has not improved much from my stroke last year. Verbalising is difficult at times. I still talk to the mayor though about things. We are both old as dirt. I bitch about him doing his job ... he just grins and I always vote for him. ::laughing:: Hmmm ... I guess I am the same way with WWG. |

Dual monitors is a godsend. I went to dual a few years back and love it to death. I am currently down to one, though, as one died and I haven't had a chance to replace it yet. ![]() First world problems |

So I hit up Wikipedia and they have a topic comparing CRT, LCD and other display technologies. Scroll down to the row "Health Concerns". Personally, I've never given it a thought, so I don't know. Lots of companies sell "anti-radiation" screens that fit all sizes of monitors. I don't know if there really was a reason to worry about radiation with CRTs, and it sounds like there's less reason for concern with LCDs. But, if you're worried, make sure you're sitting a couple (3?) feet from the screen. |
