Just started playing / GM'ing pathfinder and have been running the games on roll20. I'm wanting to move it to the table and use minis. My problem is that unlike others that have been collecting them for ages and have a bunch lying around, I got nothin' ![]() Is there a relatively inexpensive way to get a bunch of minis (for both players, NPCs and monsters)? I've poked around reaper's site and some of them are nice but don't relish buying one at a time...or is that just the way it's done? I have little interest in painting them so would prefer pre-painted, but not the end of the world if they're not. |

From a pre-painted pov... Check ebay for people selling "lots", you'll get large groups usually for cheaper than if you bought them individually. You can also check out auggies online for low prices to start, he hasn't been stocking the newer sets though. And there are bricks. You can usually get them for cheaper than MSRP, and Pathfinder is pretty good about distribution. |

Can also recommend paper minis. Look around RPG now and you should find LOTS to choose from. Pathfinder also has some nice standee sets you could look into. |

It'll boil down to if you want Pre-Painted, or if you want to paint them yourself. If the former, there are a few lines of pre-painted miniatures you can get - D&D Minis, HeroClix (for Superhero needs), Pathfinder Battles - and you can always look online for lots of prepainted wargame armies that people are looking to get rid of. On the other hand, if you're interested in painting up your own minis, there is a plethora of options there, as well. Reaper has their line of Bones miniatures with has just been significantly boosted (and you can grab the Vampire box for a pretty decent price, given all the minis goodness you get with it), or, if you're looking for a particular type of miniature to fill out the rank and file with, you can go with an Army Box of some description (typically Warhammer, but you can also get a variety from Malifaux, Warmachine/Hordes, Freeblades, or Dystopian Wars, among others). I'd go with the Reaper Bones, personally, as the models have decent details (ranging from Fair to Incredible, depending on the miniature), and are about half the price of the nearest non-collectable competitor (Freeblades or Reapers own pewter lines) - and are tremendously cheaper, model for model, than what you'd get from Games Workshop or Privateer Press. |

hero click also has a lot of minins that work well for Fantasy gaming , I remove the click bases and they work well. You can get them real cheap .25 if they are not popular , I also get plastic animals for hobby and toy stores and with paint and glowing eyes and a little green stuff you can make them into very cheap monsters . I even taken 33mm green plastic army men from the dollar store and with a blow torch and a fork turned them into an army of elemental's ( think out of the box ) some toy story's have dragons that are really affordable , game store have a bag full of zombies and skeletons that are real cheap. I go to half price book store and look at board games some times there are games with lot's and lot's of plastic mins in them, they tend to be smaller scale but I some time use smaller scale's for battles and larger set lay outs, and they always work for an army of pixies look for used Descent board game on line . go to gaming conventions , I have bought boxes of minis from game systems that are no longer, for penny's on the dollar , barter town is a great place to find lot deals |

Nope! Hand cut. The trick is to cut many straight lines rather than curves. Did 40 in around 3 hours. |

These are all great ideas and I endorse each in their own right. I would also say that you should watch for good Kickstarter deals. Especially watch out for the Reaper Bones Part 2 Kickstarter in the next few months and the Stonehaven part 3 sometime soon. |
