Ok i have received a commission to paint a warhammer finecast mini (dark elf with 2 blades). after freeing the mini i've found that the condition was HORRIBLE! half foot mangled by a bubble end of the mantle horribly irregular cast lines in "non reacheable" position I have to say that i'm higly disappointed since this is a REALLY REALLY expensive line! 13€ for a single humanoid-size mini....(and not so complex) Have you had the same impression or it's just a badly cast piece? for auld: can you whisper me how much you ask for painting such a thing? p.s. the commisioner asked for a scheme color i personally don't like so much! predominant black/dark grey leathery armor i didn't have the occasion to speak directly to him or i would have pointed out that pure black is an horrible choice, you risk a featureless mini! I think i'll deviate and opt for a dark dark grey |

GW Finecast has some of the worst QA that I have ever seen. The material would not be all that good to begin with, but add to that the fact that their quality control is so poor... some stores have had to replace more than half of their products. GW is good about replacing models, so your best bet is to give them a call, describe your problem, then wait for the replacement. Then, never, ever get Finecrap again. Just not worth it.... And I like resin models! The Auld Grump |

Definitely not bad for quick work. Well, depending on what you define as quick. |

nice work, and yes, Finecast sucks! I was commissioned to paint a Bloodthirster. I think I made up several new curse words working with that stuff. |

finecast was supposedly a stop gap conversion of the metal models to something "cheaper", but the price was still jacked up, and instead of converting to the rather nice plastic GW can do, GE decide to stick with it. When you ship that model back, brace it carefully for shipping and hope it does not get to hot as heat will warp it. |
