Well - I have found the first hardcover Pathfinder book that I won't be purchasing, even in PDF.... Not a bad book - just not useful for me. My primary, and only real, complaint is that it only uses the Core classes. And, more and more, I use either archetypes or base classes outside of the Core. (Witches, as an example, were the most common spell casting class in my 1750s Elf & Orc War campaign.) While 75% of my NPCs are the main classes that 25% is enough to limit the value of this book. I would have preferred to see a series of thinner paper bound books - one per class, starting with the core and archetypes, then hitting the odder classes such as Witch and Magus. But I am not sure that would have sold well enough to justify. Maybe a series of 3PP PDFs instead? Folks agree? Disagree? The Auld Grump |

I haven't seen it yet, but when ever I needed an NPC for Pathfinder, I just went to their NPC Gallery, which is online . Granted you're looking at core classes again, but you can modify them pretty easily. |

I haven't seen this yet either. It wasn't high on my list of things to get. I really enjoy making up different characters...so I just sit down with HeroLab and crank out a bunch of NPC's. I ran into a Wiki some time ago of Pathfinder NPC's that people had created and put in. I could see contributing to that. If 1000 people made up 10 NPC's each, you would have a pretty good start! |
