While I haven't played it, I do own the books. I will say in response to Carl's post that there are MANY people out there who do NOT consider the game a joke. (The game is a self-confessed parody, which is not the same as a joke.) I will make a wish that this thread doesn't descend into yet another "Is HM a Joke?" agruments that pop up like toadstools on RPG boards around the Net. My impressions from reading the HM rule books is that it's a fairly solid set of mechanics, but the added levels of details (to reflect the humor in the KODT comics) make the game more unwieldy than I like. I never played 2e (I went from Basic to 1e to GURPS to 3e to Savage Worlds) but what I saw of it I didn't care for either. |
