Just started playing SOBH again. First time I tried it, I used Zombies. Second time I played, I tried them again. I have come to the conclusion that Q6 models may be fine in theory, but worthless in actual play. Also forgot the part where only 30% of your army may be Personalities in that first game. Whoops. Anyway, been having fun with it aside from that. Started converting some Confrontation armies and thinking about Warmachine as well. I have heard that the Mighty Monsters rules could emulate a 'Jack pretty well. Thinking Beastmaster could be a good stand in for Warcaster. Anyone have any thoughts or conversion stories? |

Wow, I seem to excel at making threads that nobody has interest in. Anyone? |

I know nothing about the system. I do know that zombies have intrigued me recently and caused be to print out Zombie Plague... |

Yup. Its a great system! Unless you have Q6. When you have a leader in range, that makes them Q5. I always do and they still always sit like useless lumps. LOL |

Testify. I don't mind a high Q for sometime things, like a rarely used weapon in Mighty Monsters, but definitely not creatures like your q5 or q6 zombies - because I want to play the game, and Q6 is "84% chance you can't play<" while q5 is still "68% chance you can't play," every single turn. That just isn't fun to me. I don't need q1 or 2 superninja demigods, but I need better than q5... Alexio |

I could even deal with Q5 zombies provided I have a Leader with them. Otherwise? Forget it! Not worth the points. Should be having a go with my converted Wolven tomorrow if all is in alignment. Otherwise, soon. 4 model band all Q3. Should be fun...and EVIL! |

I like the system, though I mainly use Flying Lead. I've a played a few SpaceHulk games with it (on a Titan build, with OneMonk genestealers), which were pretty fun. In a Flying Lead/Resident Evil game, even most of the Q5 zombies didn't get to act. With low-quality models, your opponent can either run circles around you, or you get an early turnover. Lately, I prefer the Chain Reaction system by Two Hour Wargames over the Ganesha engine; I think it's a better fit for modern and scifi games. |

I have 5150 by THW. I was HORRIBLY disappointed that the point system felt like an afterthought just to shut up people asking for one. Chain Reaction any better? Flying Lead is on my short list to pick up. ![]() |

Chain Reaction is, as I understand things, the name of the underlying system. The (free) Chain Reaction rules are more or less identical to 5150: Star Army, just with less options and detail. The 5150 version I have doesn't come with a point system, but I don't really mind. I prefer scenario/story-based games to competition games anyway. FL is nice. I hope they do publish more Theater-books such as Hearts and Minds. |

Zombie groups make good walls. In the Fear & Faith supplement zombies always get a short move even when not activated so they become a constantly shambling threat. |

However, if the horde tries to hunt a human running away, and has to bash down doors to do that... Well. ![]() |

Squirmy, THAT is brilliant! Would make Zombies MUCH more useful. |

Thanks, but I got the idea from one of the designer's (Andrea) posts about envisioning them as a living wall. Last game I played I used to block LOS to an archer and essentially create a fire corridor so my spellcaster could nuke a superheroic fighter. After he died the zombies shuffled their configuration to block the previous fire avenue and create a fire corridor open to the next victim... ![]() |
