I got inspired and spent some time this week - I spent a chunk of Saturday making Silhouette Studio files for the various bits of the stands (all but the 'House' back) and corners (did the 45 degree and 90 degree corners, didn't do the reverse 90 degree), plus the Imperial box and the square tower (I'm going to glue the tower behind his nibs box, as a covered stairway access).

Sunday afternoon I spent robo-cutting and edging all the parts for a half-circle enclosure (that way I'll have a backdrop but still be able to easily access the figures while seated), and this weekend I'll glue up and take pictures.

Anyway, the cool part is that these parts are essentially robocutter-ready - nearly every page already fits in the cutting area of my Silhouette SD. And this set is almost all straight lines, easy to draw the cut and score lines onto. The few parts that stick out past the cut frame were tabs, which I could easily snip by hand.

I have to tell you, this makes ALL the difference in the world -- I made a 24x42 arena several years ago, which took forever to cut out, edge, and assemble. With the Silhouette once you've got the file set up, you just feed sheets into the printer then into the cutter. I'll never build an arena by hand again.

Got my cut out parts glued up today, here are some pictures of my robo-cut arena so far. I've done enough for a semicircle, or a longer backdrop, because its easier to reach across the table than to reach over the wall, when i want to move figures.

That's one Royal Box (with a Grand Tower affixed to its back), four Terraces (one grates, one door, and two plain fronts, with one betting, one food, and two plain backs), and two sets of right and left 45-degree corners.

I used paperclips to hold sections together - this really helps stabilize it and makes them fit tighter together too. you can really see the difference where they aren't clipped together.

What I really want is some rows of spectator "standees" (except they could be sitting) that I could use to fill up the stands.

Generic ancient garb would be fine, heck, even generic middle ages garb would look okay from a distance.
