...WotC has obviously not seen the wonderful things done here (or across the 'net) in regards to papercrafting. |

I gave up on trying to understand WotC back when 4e was still being announced.... Heck, Paizo sells standees, both a licensed PDF series and the cardstock ones that they introduced with their Beginner's Box. The Auld Grump |

I gave up a quick chortle for it but quickly tired of any amusement. @ Denny - when I read the WotC article, that is exactly what I thought of; are they really that willfully ignorant? The colossal red would be a big go with papercraft. Plus, I did also see a really nice papercrafted WoW dragon floating around. Hey WotC, food for thought: maybe if you did standees we would actually get all the monsters from all the books out before an edition runs out! |

you know WotC used to do paper terrain.... It was early 3E but that's what got me into the hobby. |

Actually, while I didn't build them, finding those pieces from WotC were one of the reasons I got interested in Paper terrain too. While I prefer World Works terrain in the ability to go inside, I am amused by their concept of the ruined buildings beneath the intact outer shells that you could take off to reveal the consequences of the players actions. honestly if WotC did do a line of licensed paper miniatures in 2D, 2.5D or 3D depending on the art style I probably wouldn't hesitate to purchase them. least not as much as I do with traditional minis. |

I think the Watchtower was my first...not sure how I came across it...probably browsing RPGNow. I went through some other companies (including the WotC offerings) and finally settled with WWG as my out-and-out primary terrain provider. Glad I did. |

It's kinda funny.. a LOT of the classic-series games, like Marvel and Indiana Jones, had a ton of cardboard minis and props in them. Surprises me to see WOTC openly mock that market at this point - particularly since it really helped out 4E. I do not understand what's in their heads these days. It's a game company that, I swear, hates gamers. |

to be fair it might not only be WotC but also might be hasbro which is influencing their actions |

Yeah, there've been a LOT of stories about gamers forming their own little game company to attempt to resurrect old Avalon Hill games, but when they got talking to WotC, found that WotC wanted ridiculously high fees for some of the games--even though they would be lucky to sell 1,000 of them a year. Ya know, I tried TSR's cardstock products waaaay back in the 80s and was so disappointed with them that when other folks suggested WWG stuff a few years ago, I wouldn't even look at it. Thankfully, some gaming blog had an article on some WWG set with pictures and I was amazed at how good it looked. |

on the subject of paper miniatures though, has any one else found Eddnic's work? he is mostly on one monk's forum, but has a separate blog where he has been posting his work lately, all free too. pretty good stuff, mostly 2.5D or 3D figures. |

I like his over the other person who does 3D figures on one monk, a gentleman by the name of Tirick who designed to scale 3d pose-able paper miniatures, because frankly, while incredibly impressive, there is no way I would be able to create what he does. when you are cutting out individual to scale arrows, I think I have to draw the line. |

the best way to down load his work is to join 4 share when directed to the site. I used Jdownloader to get some of the models after signing on with 4share as a free menber and adding it to jdownlader. Good luck guys. |

Back when I still tried to like WotC, I downloaded all those cardstock pieces. When I built them I was amazed at how much that added to my game. But because there was no community to teach me some of the ins and out of the craft, I used rubber cement. lol Now I have some of them left, but they come apart , and the glue d/n work over rubber cement. Thanks for the link, might go back and rebuild them one day. The Friar is still calling my name and I have yet to finish making enough pieces (can we ever?). |
