It's a true sign that you've been in a longstanding vacuum of shallow, glitzy, empty movies when you suddenly see a movie trailer that seems to promise something real for once. Its been a really damn long time since I've seen a "bar setting" movie (the LOTR trilogy was the last best thing I've seen in that category). I have BIG hopes for Ridley Scott's Prometheus! |

I have been following this one with great interest too..I'm glad its not just me that's had a severe dose of the "Meh"'s with recent movies ![]() |

I've been tracking this one, that is the best trailer I've seen for it though. This is the second best I've seen. |

I am VERY excited for this one, ever since I heard about it a few months back. My wife doesn't do well with suspense and/or scary movies but has been informed that we will be watching this one. Apparently the speculation that this is a prequel to the Alien franchise has been debunked by Ridley Scott though. |

Really? I had heard it still fits as a prequel minus a few small things. Watching the trailer, though...yeah, it seems to open up WAY too many plot holes. Trailer has so much CG it looks like a Star Wars prequel, but I'm still hopeful. |

Well, the big alien pilot that we see dead in Alien is there, along with that big crashed ship. Maybe it's not a prequel, but still sure looks like one to me! I'm wondering if the changes that are happening to the infected human crew, modifies them into the xenomorphs. |

Its an origin story in the truest sense of the word from what I understand. No "Alien" from the franchise story in this one but elements that lead to its (and mankinds) creation...or something like that. "The pilot" and the alien ship from the first Alien feature prominently in the story somehow. Apparently, they built absolutely gigantic practical sets for this one that required an expansion of the lot warehouse to accommodate them. I can't wait! |

I'm not a fan of the alien series. So I hope this doesn't tie in much with it. |

I am not looking forward to this either. It costs me almost $20 to see films around here (worse in 3d) so if it turns out to be little more than an FX laden public transport ride or a pitiful drag of a comedy full of stupidity passing for jokes, or horror which makes no sense because the horror elements were all made up by an author writing for little girls or a drama or tragedy driven by a comically impossible event which still isn't very funny, I have lost. It's very difficult to get excited about the movies. The Alien references are, I'm afraid, unmissable. |

Sorry, appending this. Basically, something happens to convert 1 of them in to a spacejockey. Then the canisters are there to deliver the alien facehuggers to the destination planet. I'm thinking the the spacejockey victim also gets facehugged (hence the end resulting chest bursted jockey) and the crash. They leave the pictographs scattered across different parts of different worlds and leave a "host" race there (or just discover host races still under development) then by the time a race can find and figure out AND get to the planet they are indicating - the host race is large enough to be harvested in to Aliens. The Jockey's job is to get them there before dying, but the humans open up the canisters before the Jockey is fully made and can deliver. All manufactured by the predators. ![]() |

I though you all might enjoy this. Especially the old ones out there like me. Happy Birthday David http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOOJl5lWNfM Full Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGMS5F1DIO4 Alien has a history with me... When I was young I went to see it at the University Theatre with my parents, but it sold out just as I got to the ticket counter. So I cried. (I think I was like 12 at the time.) Then they set up some extra seats at the back to let me and my family in. Then I cried. ('cause keee ryst that was scary.) Many years later... I lived in Cailfornia... then Africa... then moved back.. and went to university. What was playing the first weekend I got back? Aliens! |

Dang second video was removed. So, there's synthetics in Prometheus, didn't actually expect that - don't know why. |
