[If this is the wrong place, I'm sure one of our wonderful moderators will redirect it... sorry] Help? I was trying to post my build pics for my version of the "Maiden": the "Dorothy Ann", but the pics are far too big size wise as attachments in the Builds Forum, and the system says the width and heighth are too big to put them in the Gallery. How do I adjust these? (The correct answer would be a good thing to tack at the top as instructions on how to do it...if it is there I somehow missed it.) |

That is a question that depends on the photo-editing tools you have at your disposal. Photoshop, GIMP (which is free), Windows Photo Gallery, Paint, some other after market software, etc. I don't mean to be vague, but there are numerous routes to answering this question. Thanks, Talae. Now I know what I'll be doing this 3-day weekend - continuing my GIMP education. I was trying to do a straight upload of the pics. So now I know I have an intermediary step. Love ya, man! |

Usually, I don't have to resize pictures to post them. The site will auto-adjust the size of the pics in each post. That is taking them with my phone camera though. I haven't used a decent quality camera for build pics since the forum upgrade. |

A decent point-and-shoot camera can produce surprisingly large picture files - mine defaults to mid-sized images (6x10) but high dpi (600dpi), my cow-orker's camera provides medium dpi (150) but the images are 25 inches across... either way, too big for eay posting. |

I use a program called Irfanview it's an excellent picture manipulator and it's completely free! |

If you are using GIMP, it is easy. Open your pic, and on the Image menu on the top, select Scale Image. I don't remember what the width requirements of pictures are, but say it is 1000. Input that into your resize width, hit the Scale button and viola! Make sure to save it under a different name so you don't get rid of your high quality pic. |

I run Windows XP at home, and have installed the Microsoft powertoy that adds image resizing to the context menu right from explorer. Here's a Microsoft answer to the question "" In it is a link to the XP powertoy app too. I don't think I've used anything on Win7 yet, so I can't speak to how convenient they are. |
