Oddly enough, the Dark Dungeons thread has me thinking about what movies best represent role-playing games. Call of Cthulhu... maybe Graveyard Shift? (Bad movie, with a few completely blown San rolls). AD&D... Hawk the Slayer? (Made for TV, not exactly great, but it has a D&D 'feel'.) Star Frontiers... not a movie but a TV show - Space Precinct. Spycraft... also not a movie - the original Mission: Impossible. Others? The Auld Grump |

Call of Cthulhu, I could make an argument for Friday the 13th the Series and Twin Peaks. Not a perfect match, but close. Attic Expeditions IS CoC, however. Cyberpunk 2020, Blade Runner. |

Ladyhawk always comes to mind when I play D&D and Pathfinder. |

I don't know, when I think of CoC and movies, I always think of From Beyond! |

I actually like 'Knights of Bloodsteel' for AD&D. Are we staying away from big-time movies/shows (i.e., I am sure we all know the contention between White Wolf and the Underworld franchise...)? |

Tom Hanks was in a movie about 20 years ago that seemed to be based on Dungeons and Dragons called Mazes and Monsters. Kind of a Reefer Madness for the anti D&D crowd. ![]() ![]() |

Game of Thrones hit me as a flashback of my fantasy game. Aliens copied my sci fi game. |

Cadfael works. It has been years since I have watched it. A good show to watch before bed. Don't remember it being the typical hack and slash type, more cerebral. Think it was put out by BBC. Good as far as the story was concerned. Had a good reality feel. I would say the style would make for a good game, one I would enjoy playing. |
