I convinced my husband that the best solution for trying to fit two Rhodesian Ridgeback sized crates into our small home office was to actually turn the crates into the support for a new computer desk for me. And since the crates are 42 inches long, nearly 30 inches wide ... well, it *also* made sense to just go ahead and use a full 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of MDF for the desk top. It's enormous. (Cue cries of "That's what she said!") Here's our old office layout, with each of us occupying a corner computer desk, and two crates to the side of my desk. And here's the new office layout, with a re-built desk for me and for him. Both desks scavenge parts from our old corner desks (his new desk uses the filing drawers from the old desks, and both desks use parts of the old hutches as shelving). And here's a photo of my desk, organization still in progress. But you can see how it uses the dog crates underneath, and how much room I have now. It's ridiculously large. The top is wrapped in white shelf liner, to make it wipe-able. I still need to sort things out and get them placed into their new homes, but this is going to be so much fun the next time I sit down for a terrain crafting session! |

Looks awesome! I thought I had a large desk, but that puts me to shame. (I guess Irish guys aren't especially known for large desks...) ![]() |

You know, laughing at desk size is rude. It isn't like it is something that can easily be changed. That would be an extensive endeavor... |

I took the opportunity to go through all my old terrain ... held my breath, and cringed as I threw out everything that wasn't done on my photo paper. What you see in the left side cubby is all I have left. Basically got tired of mix and matching, so ... photo paper only now. All the card stock stuff is gone for good. (It was previously all stacked in a blue bin, "just in case" I needed it.) Time to put this desk to use! |

We actually have a pseudo-antique dining-room table (a 4 person one) as our workdesk. The main problem with it is that it tends to get littered with stuff. It's impressive enough after being cleaned, but I dunno... there seems to be a half-live related to any table-space cleanliness in our house. |

I know just how strong those crates are, one of mine held up under having 2 house walls drop on it during the tornado. It bent some but was still creating a pocket. It should do great as desk support. Bet you dogs love being that close to you. |

The 80-pound Ridgeback still believes he's small enough to fit in my lap. ![]() |

I bought a pet bed for our Mini Pin to put under one of the modular corner desks I have because he was constantly wanting to get in my lap when I was in there. Once I had the bed in there, he would happily get in it anytime I was in the office. |
