If you look at the upper right corner of each posting, there's a grey frowny face button. Click it to report the post to a moderator. If it's already been reported, it'll let you know when you click it. |

The Moderator team tries to kill these as quickly as we can. Alas, we are volunteers, and we don't always hit them as soon as we would like. But we appreciate the reports! |

As both the above have said, there is a report button in the top right and the volunteer mod team tries our best to be on top of it. I would assume that most WWG forum goers would be surprised at the level of SPAM. It seems to come in waves, but high tide is not exactly fun. At least the posts are sometimes humorous... |

I can imagine there is much more than actually sticks around; we see hardly any and comparing WWG to similar sites it seems on the low side - chalk it up to the moderators' diligence! |

Thanks ![]() Thanks too for flagging spam when you do spot it. Some of it can be very insidious (especially when the spammers go back later and edit a seemingly innocent post to add a spam link to their signature), so every notification helps us keep this forum as clean as we can. ![]() |

Can we have the spam button change to orange or something when the post has been reported? I just got lured into clicking on a link in a (well-crafted) spam post. When I clicked on the report button, it told me the post had already been reported, which is all well and good. But I had already given the spammer traffic, which is what he wanted... So giving me some visual clue that the post may be questionable would help me not click, and therefore make the forum less fruitful for spammers. Steve |

I think there should be some sort of post moderation. New posts have to be viewed by mods before being approved. |

The SPAM issue is one of balance. Basically, stricter anti-SPAM techniques cause user frustration, while not strict enough causes user frustration for the reverse reason. There has been a more active than usual wave of spammers lately. We try our best to make it all go away behind the scenes, but we have jobs and whatnot ourselves. Also, we are always working to improve SPAM filters as much as possible. |

If were up to a vote, I vote against new post review; I realize it is beyond capacity as it is, but on principle I do not think every (new) poster should be punished and have their posts delayed because of the actions of a few. The way conversations move around here, by the time they get approved they will be out of sync. Just my 0.02 in the event it was considered. |

The spammers are a nuisance, but not worth holding up all the good discussion that goes on here. (e.g. Denny's poll on priorities for new sets which drew a significant number of first time posts, all of which was vital to the poll.) I'd guess something like 90% of the spammer activity here is never noticed by anyone outside the moderators, and the other 10% only ever gets seen by a few people (generally the very frequent browsers/posters on these forums) before we catch it. Here's a thought: You know you're a cardstock terrain addict when you start to notice spam on the WWG forums. ![]() |

There is definitely a difference between limiting all users and limiting new users. At the same time, this is definitely a call for Denny to make. I am sure that he is grateful for the civil discussion taking place about the topic and will think it over. |

Well another way around is the mod's have to approve the first 5 postings before being let loose in "DIS WONDERFUL FORUM" Just my 5 cents worth, The smallest coin available in Aust now-a-days. they (being the ?government? ) found it cost more to print the coin that it value. Not that you could find any product to purchase with it anyway. |
