I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate some deals for this year into one thread. The goal of this thread is to have anything gaming/cardstock terrain related (from printers to miniatures, from video games to rpg books, etc.) Personally, I am hoping for a decent laser printer this year and maybe even a robocutter. Other than that, other stuff is just bonus. Black Friday deals are fine, but make sure to denote them as such. is a starting point for you, if you need it. The same printer is on sale at Frys for the same price: http://www.frys.com/ads/page3 Anyone with experience out there? Is it worth grabbing? Does it print square/is it cost effective/etc.? |

I have a Samsung CLP 315 (the previous gen, I guess) and I'm more than satisfied with the thing. It works like a charm, printing is neat and colors are crisp - even though it had a little problem with the drivers that came with Win7. A bundle of toners (just not the ones that come with the printer) usually last quite long, at least mixing normal printing use with the heavy-duty papercrafting needs. Just don't use refilled/compatible toner cartridges. Never. They screw up badly pretty much everything, from brightness to color balance. |

Just got my Epson email, they're running a sale thru the 28th on the following. Use code SAVEBIG for the discounts. Artisan 725 is $90.00. Artisan 835 is $94.50 They also have a couple of label makers in the email, but those interest me a lot less. |

I ended up grabbing the Epson 835 with the above mentioned coupon. Seemed like a decent enough deal. Now, if I could only find a deal for a robocutter that is worth it (the $130 deal from a few years ago would be nice). |

Anyone have any experience using a laser printer in combination with a cutter (Robo or Silo) and toner flaking? I've been printing quite a bit of my terrain on regular laser paper, then spray mounting it on card stock and when I use my scribing tool, I get lots of flaking along the bends! Just curious as to how much flaking is happening with the cutters, laser printouts and the score areas. |

I've been using a laser printer for years and only had flaking problems twice: - once when trying some substitute toner (went back to the official toner real fast - took a couple of hundred pages before the print quality came fully right after changing back) - once when trying some overweight glossy sided cardstock (the glossy side flaked badly, the other side flaked a bit) Other than that, the prints have been great and last really well. |

Not been a problem, just make sure that you do your cutting in a warm room. (65 degrees or so.) The wax gets more brittle when it is cold.  Anyone know if the Silhouette Cameo is compatible with earlier models of the Craft Robo? A friend is looking at it to share with his wife. (She scrapbooks and stencils, they both game.) Over in the Dungeon Magazine section of the sale the hardcover edition of The Shackled City is available for $30. If it seems that I favor city campaigns, ummm....  The Auld Grump |

After encouragement from my wife, I picked up the Samsung from CompUSA for $90. Since their warehouse is practically in my backyard, it arrived yesterday. First prints are worrysome. I had the roll arena handy, so I printed a page of cards. Both width and length are about 1/32" short. The printouts are crisp, but not particularly vibrant. I'm hoping that these are driver issues, or that the size can be solved with a simple scaling factor. I'm not panicked -- the printer will see good use in any case, but I did (and still do) hope that it would take my cardstock modeling to the next level.  Steve |

The Epson arrived tonight. I just got home, so I don't know if I will get anything printed. Also, I don't have any photo-paper yet...just cheap cardstock left over from my reserves. |

Cycling power didn't do the trick. The ink packages were sealed. I am surprised the this happened this way. I feel like calling Epson and complaining. |
