Post subject: | Cards for RuneQuest using Roll Arena templates |
I run my RuneQuest game infrequently, so we end up doing a lot of rule diving to look up stuff we've forgotten. So, using the Roll Arena templates, I'm working on cards to make everything easier: Black: Basic Rules Green: Character stuff (starting with Skill Descriptions) Purple: Spell Descriptions Red: Combat (starting with combat maneuvres) I'm also thinking about making cards for treasure they find, people they meet, and key pieces of information they find out. Seriously, as we get older and play less frequently, key pieces of information get lost, magical items are not used and forgotten, etc. I'm hoping the cards will help. by , on Flickr |

When I first got the Roll Arena and saw the card templates, I thought to myself, "Who would ever use those?" Question asked, question answered. They are really useful. |

Hey Denny, some people over on the Mongoose forum are asking for copies of the cards. I've put in a good word for WWG, and posted a link. Is it ok to post cards that I've made from the Rolling Arena blanks? I think it would be a great PR opportunity, but I know you stare at the piracy issue every day. Thanks. Steve |

Sure, I'll post them here before posting links elsewhere -- that will also give the WWG staff a chance to verify they're ok with them. |

I've got a quick question about your opinion with the cards. I made a simple set of cards, printed on 110lb cardstock, but the resulting cards were too thick for my taste. Rather than buying yet more types of paper to work on, I'm thinking of adjusting the pdfs so I can print on each side of the cardstock - print the card backs, then flip the page over and print the fronts. If I recall correctly, the card layout is such that it isn't quite centered on the page, so I can't just turn the page over and print again. Have you (or has anyone else) found a pile of double-thick cards to be unwieldy? I suppose it depends on the use of the cards and personal preference, so I'm wondering how others feel. |

What about regular paper with a Magic land or something in between in a sleeve? |

I might try standard office paper at double-thickness (which might be waaay to thin, but OK if in a plastic sleeve) but I'll definitely try double-sided, single-thickness cardstock and post the results. I ran into the tackiness issue with my cards, too, and am hoping the single-thickness cards will avoid all of that. The cards have a pretty good border built into them, so I'm hoping a little skew would be tolerated! |
