Just saw another movie preview featuring (briefly) airships. A trend I really support. Hopefully someone will do a cool design that actually gets made as a toy or miniature. Anyway the preview was for John Carter. I assume that refurs to the John Carter on Mars books. Which I've never read but have been referenced in other books I've read. Still movie looks interesting enough to rent. Maybe it'll even get me to read the books. http://disney.go.com/johncarter/ There is a gallery there too that shows the airship. But I can't seem to link straight to that image. Any other cool previews out there? |

I read all of those Mars books back in the 1960's. Interesting at the time. The airship in the photo gallery of the movie looks a bit over done, but that's to be expected now. If you want to read some of the books Project Gutenberg has the first five of the series available for download. 1 A Princess of Mars 2 The Gods of Mars 3 The Warlord of Mars 4 Thuvia, Maid of Mars 5 The Chessmen of Mars Load them up on your E-reader and enjoy Scroll down to Burroughs, Edgar Rice, 1875-1950 near the bottom of the page. Check the site out. There are a lot of good books there. It is convenient to have books in electronic form that have been bought through the years. It helps when a search for a particular phrase or passage is wanted. ![]() |

I am trying not to get too over-hyped for this one, but I am definitely planning on seeing it. I have been reading the series over the past few months (and found out about the movie just after the second book). I am really enjoying the books and hope the movie does it at least a little justice. |
