Eh it's no big deal, I can remember it snowing on October 2nd a few years ago, and also on October 18th here in CT. It's New England.... |

When I was a kid I always remember Halloween being cold. And tricker treating at night. These last several years it always seems to be short sleeves warm and over by dark. I never really feels like halloween to me anymore. It doesn't help that the stores seem to have the Christmas stuff set up already. |

Wow. We haven't even seen snow in Minnesota yet. There's a running joke in Minnesota that you know you live in Minnesota if you select your kids' Halloween costumes based upon whether it'll fit over a snow suit or not. |

Ghenghis_Ska, I remember that and I was talking about it today with someone else. How about the blizzard headed here this weekend?

We also had snow last night, here in southern Maine. No accumulation. We have had snow for Hallowe'en on occasion, just not often these days, I also remember All Hallows E'en being cold when I was a Young Grump. And the year we were in Buffalo the area got dumped with snow. Went to Circle tonight, for the first time in a decade or more. I had forgotten how flaky some folks could be... afterwords one person came up to me and asked 'did you know you have faces in your aura? It's disconcerting'. I told him they were my rogues gallery, he did not look relieved. No games today - we went for a game of putt-putt as a birthday gift for one of the players in the kids game. I placed second, way behind the birthday boy, and way ahead of everybody else. I putt one handed, and some of the others were not amused. I just have more control one handed and across the body. Then I went to Circle until 10, since I had the night clear, and told Megan that I would come by if I could. Hallowe'en party tomorrow instead of a game. So, no games this week, except the bit of Harrowstone that I will run at the party. No After Hours movies this year, which I am kind of glad for. The Auld Grump |

And the little bit earlier was just a prelude - we got dumped on! ![]() My Hallowe'en party got cut short because of it, and we only had about ten people total. Snow! *Fwump!* The Auld Grump, yes, there is a snow angel on my lawn.... And just because I thought that this was awesome - |

Thats incredibly awesome. But I think I'm glad I don't live on that street. I can see that getting old quickly. |

I'm not sure how relevant this is, because I'm pretty scrambled tonight. I've got a friend who is putting all of his Christmas decorations up tonight, he says his house is getting all dressed up for halloween as the Mall. |

@joydyhee & Ghenghis_Ska: Condolences and warm feelings to you and everyone else effected by that miserable weather and its by products. Please don't be tempted to burn your WWG printouts as the foamcore isn't going to beneficial to our health - and who knows what chemicals may be lurking in the inks - ![]() I remember one year we took a big family vacation in February ('88?) from Illinois down to the west coast of Florida... Florida's biggest high was 58 whlie we were down there most of the week while back home in Galesburg IL it was in the 80s... sometimes there just ain't no justice. ... And I was stuck up in Chicago Blizzard of 1981 when the wind chill hit minus 80 (!). Tow truck companies had their phones off the hook by 8am because thay already had more calls than they could handle till the afternoon just to get cars started. (Okay, enough with my edition of "Jim Cantorri stories" - let's get back to the original thread...) Happy Halloween everybody! Hope you didn't get badly spooked - though I did receive a jr.high boy in a big Scooby-Doo costume - didn't know whether to laugh or be frightened, very frightened. |

Crips, it is getting cold here at night even in the South. I don't want to start burning logs this early in the season, so I dug out the old subzero sleeping bags my husband and I used when we did a lot of snow camping ... many decades ago. I was so snuggly warm ... just one problem, decades ago I didn't have to get up to go to the bathroom during the night. Darn! |

You would think that in the 100+ years that NE has been wired for electricity that they would have come up with a way to keep that kind of a situation from happening. It's not like it hasn't snowed in that part of the world before. But they will string those power lines back up in the remaining trees and cry crocodile tears the next time. Happens everywhere, anywhere. ![]() |

Wow - not only will that be a hassle, but it also contributes to the impression of US deterioration that's forming in the rest of the world. Any news about when they think they'll get your power on again? |
