So I was up at Half Price Books on Capitol Hill in Seattle and found this: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp ... 0562_n.jpg My jaw dropped, naturally. Sadly the pricetag sets it WELL outside of my budget. But...wow. |

Oh yeah. They price everything out through collectors in cases like these. If its still there next time they send me a half off coupon...I may cave. |

My woodgrain box disintegrated from too much 'love'. I still have the books, but they are in poor, at best, condition. Neat to see that, but not something I'd pick up. I'd honestly rather spend the money on a current game. Steve |

I'm horribly nostalgic. I payed $40 for a copy of Rogue Trader. I love just having that connection with the roots of modern gaming. Its the collector in me...probably one of the reasons I collect classic video games and consoles as well. |

I found one of those in good condition about 10 years ago in the area here. Sold it years later, but didn't make a whole ton for it on ebay. I used to go to used book stores all the time and pick up tons of gaming junk that they had accumulated. I think I got 20 modules for the Ghostbusters role playing game and 10 copies of some accessories for Car Wars at one place. I ended up with so much junk that I figured it was best to just sell it off, rather than lug it all around with me when I moved. |

I hear ya. Thankfully, though, I've managed to mostly control the hoarder in me. As part of my past collecting, I had found a whole bunch of Dragon magazines going back to issue #2 and had bought them as a big bundle. At that time, the older ones were worth something on ebay. Within a year, though, WotC/TSR had released all the old Dragon magazines in one DVD set and, suddenly, my collection was worth less than I'd paid for it. So, sadly, those finally found their way to the dumpster. I have it all on PDF now, of course, but even those don't get used. |

Collections are a matter of perspective, someone may only want the original printed copies of a magazine vs a pdf. First of all they are tactile instead of digital, granted pdfs offer a different kind of benefit. So they're two different products with the same content (imho). Just like the pre-painted miniatures (DDMs), there were the original large red dragons from dragoneye and then there is the reprint from heroscape and the reprint coming out in the dragon collectors series. Some people will feel that their big $ miniature was suddenly worthless, but any true collector will want either all 3 or the original with the stamp on the bottom that shows it was the first of it's kind. |
