PagePlus X5 is until 17 October 2011. PagePlus has been my default desktop publishing program since PP10, first learning about it from a review by a game publisher who used it. Not as feature rich as InDesign, but a whole lot less expensive and easier to use, doing everything that I need or want it to do. Well worth $70. There is also a free - not very powerful, but hey, it's free. , also free, is better than PP Starter, but PP Starter is easier to use. I prefer PP X5 to either, but again, hey, free! You can get both Scribus and PP SE for free, so you can try both and see which you like. Just lately I have been using to handle my fonts - the font management in PP X5 is not the greatest, but Nexus is free and pretty decent, so that is not a problem. The Auld Grump |

Scribus is a pretty good layout program. I used it for a while when I was designing CD insert layouts. (someone else did the actual art). Best part for is it works the same on both Windows and Linux. |
