I just broke down and ordered a year subscription to Marvel Digital Comics. I went back to some of the earlier Amazing Spider-man issues and although the art is the same they have re digitised them with new colour as they are not the dotted colour fills of old.

So what does my $58 for a year get me? over 9,000 comics!

You can't download them and you have to view them online but the comic reader is very well done allowing you to read the entire page or frame by frame.

The search features is really nice as well. I've been searching by publication date as I've never had the chance to read the comics from 60's & 70's. With some of the new Marvel Cartoons like The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the cartoons from the 90's like the X-Men and The Amazing Spider-Man my kids have now been infected. The early comics are more kid friendly than the current issues so I read the early ones with my kids.

I have contemplated it before a number of times. I just seem to never have the extra cash at the time. This would be an awesome thing to throw on my Christmas or birthday list every year, though!
