The other day I stopped in at a second hand book store I frequent and what to my wondering eyes did appear but a whole stack of old issues of White Dwarf! I began to flip through them, noting the dates and discovered they ranged from about 1997-2000, roughly the period I went from still caring about GW to not giving a toss about GW. Also the last gasp of GW's attempts to make more than two games (okay three, when they feel like it). What's more, each issue was complete, with colour inserts intact and unpunched! This was a good find, I could fill in some large gaps. Unfortunately my heart sank when I realized I was looking at stuff on the front shelf, known to me to be where the shopkeep placed unsorted items, meaning they may not be for sale yet and worse, none of them had store stickers on them. However, I inquired about them anyway. To my delight he replied "I have no idea what to do with them. They guy who brought them in had them with a bunch of other stuff. Frankly I'd be just as happy if you walked out of here with them." That's right, he gave them to me. Free. I took every issue he had save the four I already owned, 13 in all. And the moral of the story is, support local business folks! |

Used Book Stores are the shiz! Nearly my entire collection of 3.x D&D is from used book stores. |

Always go local when you can. Man, what a score. That was also the last gasp of white Dwarf really being more of a hobby mag and less a monthly sales pitch. |

Nice score. Makes me want to go out to my local used book store(s) today. Maybe even some garage sales... |
