Working on the large and expensive dragon, and, for the first time, trying a wet pallette. If you have never used a wet palette then let me start with the fact that they are stupidly useful, and stupidly easy to make. The one I am using I made from a largish reclosable blisterpack from Mirliton, a folded piece of cleaning towel, and some baking paper. You put the cloth (or sponge, if you prefer) in the bottom of the blisterpack, add water to the to fill the pack to the top of the cloth, and wet the baking paper before putting it on top of the cloth. Mix your colors on top of the paper - this is great for blending colors! And, if you keep the cloth moist and close the blisterpack, the paints stay useable for a week or so. The Auld Grump |

I have switched to a wide shallow plastic container that used to hold supermarket sushi. Just about perfect - while flimsy it will be easy to replace, and it is just about the right size. ![]() The Auld Grump |

When I use a wet pallet, I use a glad sandwich box. About $3 for a pack of 5, mine is 3 years old or so. Paper towels on the bottom, and a piece of parchment paper on top. |

Something I was a bit surprised by was how well wet palette's work with dry brushing. you waste way less paint and it the brushes stay happy longer. |

Different... pigments are finer, Valejo will sometimes settle, but not like the old Polly S colors. I like both Reaper and Valejo better than any paints that I have tried previously. I have ordered some Reaper HD for the base coats of the enormous dragon - I wanted to experiment with the wet palette first - I am getting a pretty hefty chunk of change for painting this, and want to do it right. Resin, so no primer coat. I am practicing on a Raging Heroes Manticore/Lammasu. The Auld Grump |
