| Post subject: | Let's Talk Dark Age Games |
My first projects with WWG models were for Dark Age, a post-apocalyptic skirmish game. My sci-fi choices at the time were Mars Station and First Light, and First Light was WAY too shiny for the dusty wastelands of Samaria. So I built a variety of ruins from Mars Station, and eventually moved on to other things. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to to play a demo of the new rules they have relased. The game has been streamlined nicely, there's a whole new faction to field, and the whole show has gotten much more organized. So I got sucked back into the game. A quick search of the garage yielded enough unpainted minis to start over completely. And of course I have enough painted minis to field several forces already lol! But what I'm really posting about is post-apocalyptic scenery made from WWG kits. Samaria, the world of Dark Age, was a high-tech world before everything went horribly, terribly wrong. I like the look of Titan Streets, but there's no "ruined" version of it. The PodTel also looks great, but I'm not sure how easy it is to make a burned out version. So does anyone have some awesome ideas for high-tech post-apocalyptic scenery? |

This kind of things seems that it would be done in one of two ways, depending on your comfort level (or both): 1) Physical kitbash. Build the walls and the cut them/tear them/recolor them/burn them/etc 2.) Digital kitbash. Use ruined stuff from other sets and overlay it. Utilize textures from imagery similar to what you want. I personally would probably start by looking at the stuff that is already done so that I don't have to recreate the wheel, as long as I was building a decent chunk of it. If it wasn't a ton of pieces, then I would probably just kitbash it on the fly. |

May have the opportunity to run a GURPS War Against the Chtorr game soon...starting to think of some combination of HighTech and post Apoc High tech for that...Probably bashed, or using Mayhem tarted up with HT accessories...Would work really well for the Chtorr Invasion world (Late 20th early 21st C) |

OK, so I finished my first piece of new Dark Age terrain. I took the Interceptor and made it dusty and faded, and left the side pods off one side so it can be on it's side as a very old wreck. I am going to fade out the Sewerworks shanties and attach the, as if the ruined car has become an anchoe for a very small settlement. If the shanties turn out well, I will do similar with a few other items as anchors... |
