Anyone having a hurricane party this weekend? I actually have a wedding to attend Saturday night on Cape Cod in MA, so we might have some rough water, but I should be out Sunday AM before the bad stuff (if any) hits. |

Not I. We had to cancel recess at school today due to an excessive heat warning. Not our choice...it was a district mandated decision. It is THAT hot. |

I guess there are just so many female 'I' names. Well, here next to D.C. we lost power for about an hour last night (after about 10 hours of steady rain) but that's it. I read somewhere there's a little flooding in coastal VA and 9 deaths are being blamed on Irene (don't know the details, so it might be storm deaths or it might be like most of the deaths blamed on swine flu in Mexico). Given the assumption that a certain percentage of any given population is just plain stupid, I'd expect to hear about a bunch of deaths once it hits NYC. From watching the Weather Channel off and on, I'm getting the impression that "it's not much as far as hurricanes go, but it's still a frickin' hurricane people." |
