So, today was the first day of school for the kids in my district. Last year was my first full-blown year as a teacher (I subbed before that) and I was the 8th grade science teacher. That position was collapsed to a 7th/8th grade position, which I declined and took the 7th grade math position instead (the benefit of being highly qualified in multiple subjects). Second year teaching and first day of school has been survived and even went fairly decently, despite being rather chaotic, although no more than expected. |

As I remember my mom talking about it (7th/8th grade science teacher for 30 some years) the first day was normally not too bad, but by the end of the first week she really knew what kind of class she was in for.... |

Yeah, I know. I am not getting my hopes up or anything, but I felt the need to put it out there that I made it through the day with all my limbs intact. I will report as the week goes on...unless I go missing or something. |

Day two down. This year is shaping up to be a great improvement over last. Also, no to seeing Bad Teacher yet. Soon though. |

Oh the smells of the classroom. Half the boys don't wear deodorant well the other half tries to overcompensate with Axe spray in nearly leathal portions. I always hated when my class had PE first period. |
