I'd be interested to read that. How does it protect funds from being taxed four or five times in the same day? Or is that an intended effect? I have a similarly cynical view of the FairTax plan. I think it's a great plan, but because it A) eliminates nearly all tax loopholes at a stroke and B) provides instantaneous accountability to lawmakers, I doubt we'll ever see it. In an immediate sense, this is because the much-proclaimed 'swamp draining' in Congress (if it ever happened) would gut both houses. In the long view, it's because so much of the American citizenry votes based upon the opinions of their favorite celebrities instead of thinking about what's important to them. There's an interesting experiment going on, . |
