I don't remember the specifics of this story, but let me tell you, I can still remember the smell. When my brothers and I were kids, we made things from plaster of paris. Well, we must have left an open bag or something out in the back garden. A couple of days went by with lots of rain and then there was an almighty stench. Something about plaster of paris outside in the rain, getting wet and drying repeatedly... not something you want to experience more than once.

Oh, I am going to have to write my daughter and tell her about that. Thanks for mentioning that turnip, Smokey. I think I'll add that to my garden next year.

Its 2 words, I think Kohl Rabi. Then again, that may be a Sikh Warlord, maybe the veggie is Kohlrabi??? I grow it in big pots that hold some growing palms. Their perfect for that, and grow fast. Did I mention the greens are good as well.

Well, I've been trying to get use to eating some 'greens' since it is far healthier to eat what is locally grown in the area you live. My parents taught me that, and I guess it helps ... I'm not dead yet.

It just can't be good having food trucked in from all over. By the time it gets to you its essence is almost dead ... far lower in nutrients ... and the chemicals used on all the stuff is terrible. I plant flowers and onions with every 10 sq. ft. of food crops to control pests, plus make my own compost for fertilizer.

I was intending to make some bio-fuel from some corn ( just a little ... tiny bit ... a gallon) but my family went into such an uproar about me maybe blowing myself up that I relented. They are always worrying about me. Its sweet but ... well, I'm just trying to save their little butts afterall. My daughter said she wished I'd join a prayer group instead. Prayer never hurts, but I'm sure we are meant to do 'something' for ourselves too!

I didn't think there was any danger in making it, but the children felt there was. Still I promised I would not pursue it. I keep my promises. Aside from that we had a great visit.
