I have to say: Savage Worlds. Before SW came out, I used to say, "Either play GURPS, because you like rules, or Tunnels & Trolls, because you don't." SW is like the post-d20 version of T&T. Not perfect, but simple enough to adapt to most anything, yet inherently interesting.

I play D&D, but my problems with it are twofold: the old and the new. The new is a ruleset so complex that breakpoints are inevitable and everywhere. The old is the default world and its preposterous proliferation of intelligent species. The name of the kingdom may change, but it's always a world with Gnomes, Dwarves, Kobolds, and Halflings; Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears, Trolls, and Ogres; Elves and Sprites and Pixies and Dryads and Nymphs... You get the idea. A clean sweep would be refreshing.

Me Favourite System are AD&D 2nd, D&D3.0/3.5, and WFRP.

I play in a 2nd Edition campaign on a wednesday. I'm part of a group of 10 (yes 10! 9 players 1 DM). I'd love to play more often. Unforunetly I've yet to find a second stable Gaming group. It seems that everytime I'm about to get it off the ground, everything falls thorugh doh!

Basically I'm willing to give any game a try thought, they all look fun!

For me it's HARP of course. It stands for High Adventure Role Playing. It's a great sytem and easy to learn. It has some original ideas that work great. In the forums for HARP I seen numerous converts from D&D all the time. Though most only make one post then they lurk. HARP brings the true adventure feel back into the game. It takes all the added complexity that 3ed and higher have seemed to acquire and makes it simple. The rules most deifnately are not lacking in anyway and they even have various alternate rules for GMs and players to use. It has a scaleable spell system that is a combination of both the typical singular spell system and the spell list system. It uses power points instead of the mundane system of remembering spells over and over again. The combat system is solely based on critical charts and is much more realistic than the normal d20 system (also easier to use from what I understand). Ok, one more point before I go to far on a rant, the character generation system is awesome, you could be a mix of up to 3 races! Each race has blood talents and if you are more than one race you can choose which ones apply to your character. In a game I recently ran we had a halfling/gnome mix.... lol.

I kind of hate GW shops for the "Do you need something ?...what ordes do you play ?..." No thanks...I know what I want thanks...Is disturbing...(A good seller is able to do the same without sounding "I work here in Freaks heaven and you seem one"...Maybe is only here in my Town...) ...

And I remember seeing the SLYIndustries in his time, and is quite stranger that I haven't it in my shelter because I've nearly every strange RPG book with a good cover in that days (... I kind of remember someone in a circular window over a "Cyberpunk" city with a gun resting in his arms... ) ... good old time for RPG...you see more that a D20 in the covers..

It was and still is a really good game. It's a bit obscure but i expect you could pick it up from Ebay (I've bought stuff from Ebay i didn't even know i might consider wanting if i saw it in a shop window as i was passing in the car).

Now i've found RezolutionDT. A few tweaks here and there and i've got SLA.

I started with D&D in the original White Box from 1974 (whoops, did I just tell everyone how old I am? ).

I am all over as far as Favorite RPGs. I have so many of them (I collect RPG's and take ideas from this and that and use them with this one and that one).

Here is just a sampling of the games I have: .

There are so many that I enjoy. Being a huge comic book freak, the Old Marvel Superhero Advanced game was a blast to play. That's one reason I am so interested in the Modern items put out by WWG. Sure I could peice items together using plasticard, but who has the time? I don't.

I love Space:1889, but since it's out of production for the most part, I have turned to another, possible Victorian setting, Iron Kingdoms and Warmachine.

The old Ghostbusters game, based on the movie is a huge hoot. And Paranoia...... Chill, the rewrite of this is AWESOME..... Deadlands.... Battlelords of the 23rd Century.....

Oh and My all time favorite of any game ever, Space Opera by Fantasty Games Unlimited. Second to this had to be Star Frontiers.

I cannot claim that I prefer and one Genre over another. I like them all. Each has its own characteristics and game play.

Aftermath had some great ideas in it.

I moved from D&D to Advanced D&D, and I even bought the Red, Blue, Green, Black and Gold boxes and adventures. Anything to expand the rules. The Companion Rules (Green Box) to me where the best D&D rules ever written, and the Mass Combat rules by TSR at that time (Battle System) rocked. The 3.5 edition Miniatures rules are pretty much for warbands only and adapting that to mass combat (on the scale of say, Warmhammer) is not very feasible. I'm trying to convert the Battle System to 3.5.

I've started to get out of Roleplaying and more into wargaming.

I have over 6k unpainted mini's. Yes, that's more than 6,000 mini's. Only about 110 or so are painted. Include the D&D prepainted mini's, I have about 7K minis.

Out of all the companies that have gone bust or disappeared or "re-invented" themselves, I miss GDW most of all. Their games and their support for their games was awesome. Even after all these years, I hope that someone will buy the IP and start it up again. (Too bad I'm not rich!).

As far as most memorable campaign?

That would be when O'Malley became a lich.

O'Malley worshiped Pelor of the Greyhawk Patheon. He was a Neutral Good Cleric who loved everyone and everything. He was the ultimate Good person. Helping those who needed it most, vanquishing evil everwhere. When the Paladin said "Let's get ride of evil once and for all! We're going to Hell!". And they did. O'Malley was able to get enlist the aid of some Heavenly help, and the Armies of Oerth went to war against Hell. A three year campaign to conquer all 9 levels of Hell. It was awesome.

Next was the Abyss.... but 666 levels is a lot. After just 33 layers of the Abyss being taken over, they gave up and went home. O'Malley was getting on in years and the bones ached a little more than normal, his eye sight was diminishing...

O'Malley was looking forward to Demi-Godhood. He was looking forward to being accepted into the Heavens and getting his just rewards.

In his last year of life, O'malley and Pelar went for a walk in the Heavens... Pelor exhalted O'Malley for all of his good deads, how he had selflessly helped all those round him with no reward for himself.... but Pelar knew.....

O'Malley cleared his throat and asked about how best his new godly powers would benefit the Heavens. Pelar took O'Malley by the hand and stated that while his selflessness knew no bounds, there was much to attend to in the Heaven's and that after 1000 years of servitude would O'Malley be ready for Godhood.

O'Malley spent time thinking of this, but whow is he who can be corrupted. Over the next year O'Malley became very bitter and resentful. Had he not been selfless and proven himself over and over. Had he not attempted to rid the immortal world of evil? Had he not put his life in harms way to save the innocent. Slowely his soul turned.... and O'Malley wanted immortality, but he wanted it his way......

So he became a Lich.

This spawned a whole new campaign where the characters starting at First Level hear of the riches in the "Cave of O'Malley", which lead them to "O'Malley's Tower".... then to assualt the Lich's Fortress after numerous other distractions get them up to sufficient level.

Man those were to great Campaigns. Unfortunately I enlisted in the US Navy and the Campaign to crush the LIch never completed. But I have converted the lich to the Iron Kingdoms as a servent of Turock. One of the Lich Lords is O'Malley.

I am now taking my BIGs (Built In Gamers) through some D&D fun. I have modified the old "Cult of the Reptile God" to 3.5 edition. I've even started flirting with the idea of building the "Inn of the Golden Grain", the Smithy and some of the other buildings. But to have the time......

Edit: Most memorable Game was in the Temple of Elemental Evil. I was DMing and one of the players was a Cleric of St. Cuthbert. When they came across IUZ, before the first anything is thrown, the Cleric goes "St. Cuthbert I need your help". I had remembered reading the Dieties and Demigods that a prayer for Help has a 1% chance of succeeding. Low and behold up came "0" and "1". I looked at the players, and in my best Scottish accent said "IUZ, don't be messin' with me boy's". Ah, Good Times.

Errr, Ars Magica isn't diceless - you may perhaps be thinking of Amber. Ars Magica is based on the use of a D10+Skill+Stat.

They have changed the d6-d6 ??..it's been a long time since I don't look at the old Ars Magica...I hate wizards (to play with) so not my game...but a must own...-crazy my...I'm a Must own all (it was in the 80-90 now I'm a bit well of that)
